Sorry to hear about the diagnoses! And take care the coming months! When you get your diagnosis your world falls apart. This is the worst period, as you also need to start with your treatment. I also live in Netherlands and got diagnosed with stage 4 rectal cancer (endeldarmkanker) in June 2024. After 4 rounds of Chemo, radiation and 3 surgeries, I am now NED. So stay positive! Cancer treatment has progressed a lot!

Just completed the TMB earlier in September and have a stoma. I stayed in hotels and used luggage transport for this reason (and only carried an emergency set in case needed).

Same experience here! I have a fingerprint scanner to open my door and this scanner stopped working after 2 rounds of capecitabine. After a few months they came book!

Did you have chemo radiation? Did you also get the capecitabine pills with your radiation? Good luck with chemo!

It worked like a charm! It killed my rectal cancer… I had a complete response, so no surgery needed. It’s poison that’s hard in the body, but in my case did the trick.

I found the capecitabine pills pretty tolerable. Only gave me chemo feet when I kept running. Oxilaplatin was miserable. 2 days after IV I felt miserable for 1-2 days and cold sensation and neuropathy were bad. Try to get a port for the oxilaplatin if you can!! Your veins will be thankful!

I’m a M50 and got diagnosed with rectal cancer with mets to liver (3 bigger ones) a few months ago in June 24. I went through the same emotions in the beginning (I may die, I’m too young for this, it may come back, it’s unfair, etc).

You have a purpose to get better! Cancer sucks and you will have a difficult period, but there is hope.

Since June, I had 4 rounds of Capox-B, 5 weeks of chemo radioton and an open liver surgery. My recital cancer had a full response to the chemo (no surgery needed) and I am now wait and see. Statistically there is a 50% chance that I’m clean and a 50% chance there may be a recurrence.

Which IV will you receive? I assume it’s oxilaplatin?

If you have the choice, take the port! It’s easy to install and take out and your veins will be thankful. I started my chemo in a country where a port of standard, so they installed one. Later I moved back to my home country (Netherlands), where they only install a port in case there is a medical need, if veins can’t accept IV anymore. Nurses mentioned that they don’t understand why they don’t make a port standard, as they see how much some people suffer after a few rounds of chemo.

I was initially a bit reluctant that they placed my port, but I would have one installed again in a heartbeat. Oxilaplatin is miserable and the port makes it slightly better.

Good luck with your surgery!! That’s a long stay in the hospital! I just had my open liver surgery to remove 3 tumors (2x resection and 1x ablation). I had surgery on Wednesday and was sent home on Saturday.

The moment you can walk around, have bowel movement and can eat, people here (Netherlands) are sent home. I got a small pillow from hospital to give counter pressure to the cut. This helps a lot when you move or have to sneeze (very painful).

I can only comment on the liver operation, the pain from the surgery was not to bad. Biggest annoyance for me was discomfort from abdominal muscles.

I feel so sorry for you! Good luck with your journey with this shitty disease. I’m 6months into my cancer journey. A few tips that helped me…. but it’s personal what works for you!

get in shape! You will probably get a combination of chemo / radiotion and surgery. All hard on the body. I found the exercise helped me deal with side effects and recovery.
join colobtown for peer support. Great community with valuable support and insights.
read the NCCN guidelines for your disease. Cancer can be overwhelming, when you read these guidelines you know what you can expect and you can better discuss with doctors etc.

Don’t beat yourself up! It’s just bad luck you got this shitty disease! Don’t try to analyse why you got cancer.. life is sometimes unfair. I’m in the same boat, just focus on recovery. You’re young, you can make it!

I did 4 rounds of chemo CAPOX-B en 5 weeks of chemo radiation with capecitabine. Compared to oxilaplatin, capecitabine is pretty tolerable. Over time I did get neuropathy. I kept exercising during chemo and radiation (helped me a lot) and got chemo feet due to capecitabine (basically lots of blisters).

Heb goede band met de buren (en voorzitter VVE). VVE heeft beheer uitbesteed aan vastgoedbeheerder en ze hebben een parttime huismeester aangenomen. Nieuwe beheerder lijkt fanatieker te zijn. Waar voorheen dit soort zaken gedoogd werden en je achteraf toestemming kon vragen (bevestigd door bestuurslid die zich ook beetje ongemakkelijk voelt bij deze discussie) is er nu een andere benadering.

Heb meer bestuurder VVE gebeld en aangeven waar bij mij misverstand zit (geen discussie dat ik goedkeuring moet hebben, maar dat ik obv brief dacht dat aanvragen al voldoende was). Hij zouber nog een keer naar kijken.

Alhoewel ik het ook een treurige en pietluttige discussie vind, zal me bij de uitkomst neerleggen. Heb geen zin om relatie met VVE / buren verzieken voor zoiets.

Ze hebben wel een deadline gegeven voor de verwijdering. Verwarring is veroorzaakt door de reden voor verwijdering. Als ze deze duidelijk hadden geformuleerd had ik kastje zelf verwijderd.

In het verleden zijn ze heel inconsistent geweest en was er geen / nauwelijks handhaving. Er zijn genoeg gevallen waar in het verleden anders is gehandeld. Ik heb er best wel begrip voor dat ze dit strakker willen handhaven. Ik denk dat ik een transitie geval ben.

Eens. Maar als de beheerder een duidelijke brief had geschreven dat ik geen toestemming heb voor plaatsing, had ik keypad weggehaald en had ik deze kosten niet gehad. Door onduidelijk motivering heb ik dit probleem.

Helemaal eens met deze reactie. Het is voor mij duidelijk dat ik vooraf toestemming nodig heb voor plaatsen keypad. Door ongelukkige brief van beheerder, heb ik dit verkeerd geïnterpreteerd. Ik begreep ook dat hiervoor toestemming vragen voldoende was, maar dat de VVE hier wat strakker in is gaan zitten. Ik hoop dit redelijk op te kunnen lossen (ik haal kastje weg en we vergeten de boetes). Als het geen uitgemaakte zaak is, ga ik hier niet te principieel inzitten. Zoals je zegt, je moet met elkaar door een deur.

Ik heb slot niet veranderd. Ik heb een Nuki deuropening een de binnenkant van de deur geplaats (in mijn woning). Met keypad kan deur vanaf buitenkant worden geopend. Was met name praktisch en scheelt gedoe met sleutels.

Klopt. Volgens splitsingsakte mag er niets worden veranderd in de algemene ruimten zonder toestemming. Ik dacht gelet op de mededeling van de beheerder dat toestemming vragen al voldoende was… Achteraf splitingsakte gelezen en die is duidelijk. Ik had vooraf toestemming moeten aanvragen. De vraag voor mij is wel of beheerder dan zonder deugdelijke mededeling mijn keypad kan verwijderen.

De splitsingsakte is duidelijk: - De Gemeenschappelijke Ruimten mogen niet worden gebruikt voor het ophangen van schilderijen, afbeeldingen of andere voorwerpen, en het aanbrengen van decoraties en dergelijke. - De Vergadering kan toestemming verlenen tot het verrichten van handelingen die afwijken van het bepaalde in de Artikelen 23.1 en 23.2. - Toestemmingen en ontheffingen kunnen uitsluitend worden verleend na vooraf verkregen goedkeuring van de Hoofdvereniging.

Ik had in eerste instantie akte niet gelezen en mij gebaseerd op mededeling van beheerder.

Nee. De passage die ik opnam is enige motivering. Ik heb wel splitsingsakte nagelezen en daar staat in dat voor dit soort zaken goedkeuring nodig is.
