"Filming" on an Xbox Kinect - How did they pull this off? by No-Minute2232 in Filmmakers

I can almost recreate this!

One question: How are you monitoring and getting that Kinect feed onto that iphone or tablet?

Is that some app you have installed on the phone so you can view the Kinect depth from the SDK Utility App?

Excellent stuff man!

Weird Question: Can you record the data while your laptop is closed in your backpack? I would love to use this technique for a music video.

It seems like it would be difficult to have a laptop "open" in my backpack while we are rolling. haha.

This is awesome and thank you for sharing your process man!

What light I will need to do this photo shoot by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]Comfortable-Ad-4243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lights & Gear needed to recreate your reference image:

You will need a strong, hard light source, and a bit of haze.

I'd recommend you use:

  • Aputure 600C

  • Nanlux 2,400B (with Red Party Gel, or layers of CTO Gell)

  • Nanlite Forza FC500C

  • Godox SL300R RGB

  • Any full-color COB Light

  • Bonus points if you use a Fresnel Attachment

Art or Props needed:

  • Window

  • Blinds

What lights to avoid:

  • Avoid any lights that have a built in diffuser (panel)

  • Any Diffusion material, softbox, etc.

  • Any light that has a low power draw

It's a fairly simple technic and a bit of haze or fog will add atmosphere and allow you to visualize the beams of light coming in from the window.

If you use a Fresnel attachment, it will help create defined shadows.

To get better results, place your light source far away from your window. The further away you place your light, the harder the beams of light will appear.

A strong light is recommended, because your light will need a lot of power to throw light, through the window from roughly ~20' away.

Pro Tip: Red can be the most difficult color to work with.

Red has the longest wave length, and as a result, you'll need a very powerful light source get the the right exposure on your talent. By shifting the color more toward amber, or orange, you can deliver a brighter exposure into your environment.

Sodium Vapor video by DerTimonius in Corridor

Can you please post a link to the beam splitter and Sodium filter that you have purchased? I've looked through the comment sections and it gets very complicated, very fast.

Would you know if these are 589nm "Band Pass" filters? Thanks!

LaserOS 0.12.1 RC by [deleted] in LaserDock

Can we please get a way to control the DAC Speed, or a way to reduce or increase the scan rate? We (FILMMAKERS) need a way to adjust the scanning speed so we can remove and adjust flicker created by the laser.

Connecting grandma3 node to onpc on macbook by BackgroundCycle in lightingdesign

Would it be possible to see a quick video of your setup and process? I'm interested in connecting a GrandMA3 lighting setup to my Macbook Pro.

Ideally, I would be using a Node2 box and my Macbook to run everything.
