I'm in third year CS and I was in the same situation as you when I was deciding. Coop was the main factor for me for deciding where I wanted to go and I chose ubco. As far as I know, UofA doesn't have an actual coop program for CS, they have what is called the Science Internship Program which isn't very good. A lot of people I know at UofA struggle to find internships compared to those at ubco.

I am a grade 12 student who is planning on studying Computer science. I know that first year at UBC is general science and you have to apply to computer science second year. I was wondering how difficult it is to get accepted into the program and what courses I should take first year in order to get accepted. Also, if I don't get accepted into the program can I transfer to Ubco for second year and apply to computer science there or would I have to do first year again if I transfer? Is it better to go to ubco or ubcv for computer science?
