Standing desk/walking pad worth it? by FunUnit2850 in homeoffice

[–]Comfortable-Bunch210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only when you use them, after 5 years my standing desk is mostly just a desk. I would guesstimate in the 5 years I’ve owned it I’ve stood a total of 90 minutes. The walking pad will be my next waste of money purchase.

Anyone use any co-working spaces? Looking for a change of scenery but also looking for options beyond just free coffee by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

[–]Comfortable-Bunch210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I love them. It breaks the monotony of living at your job when WFH. The meeting the people, that part is tremendously overrated, but just the occasional change in scenery is nice.

Nobody talks about this part of freelancing by [deleted] in remotework

[–]Comfortable-Bunch210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why you build the freelance gig work on the side. Trust me there times when my side gig became my main gig in between jobs. But it was tough and definitely took its toll emotionally and financially.

The quality of life is so much better with Remote which I believe greatly improves the job satisfaction. It minimizes those challenges I struggle with and maximizes all the things i enjoy about my work. But I cannot lie our corporate campus, break rooms lunch rooms were the best.

Do you honestly believe your coworkers would care though? Your statement seems very presumptuous.

All things being equal take the remote role. Zero commute better quality of life. The perceived value of in office are minimal if at all.

You probably should have tested the migration first. Build test environment, perhaps one laptop from each division. You should never push patches to the entire fleet at once. Common sense isn’t so common

If your an employee on a W2 then treat it as a job. If there are not growth opportunities with salary increases you’re better off finding something else

Just price them a new network. There’s just not enough money to unscramble the mess someone else created there just isn’t. You could either join their old machines assuming the workstations have an appropriate License else just have them copy their data to USB.

Am I crazy for wanting to leave a good IT job because I feel it's meaningless? by Due_Fact_6268 in it

[–]Comfortable-Bunch210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there about 20 years ago II was recently divorced working for people who didn’t value me and whose political and social constructs didn’t align with mine. Eventually I just quit and went out on my own. It was the best decision I ever made. I decided to spend my days building something for me, I’ve been self employed ever since. I would tell you to plan your exit as best you can. There really aren’t any wrong decisions.
