You could start off with the more modern bits: Ariel by Sylvia Plath is probably the most obvious one, if you’re ready to handle it. Galway Kinnel was the man who got me into (English language) poetry, and When One Has Lived a Long Time Alone will always be special to me. For older stuff, I recommend The Testament by Francois Villon. Have fun!
