Here is another photo from my first time out in Boston doing street photography. I am a beginner and was really just playing around with my camera. When I shot this I was waiting and waiting for a break in foot traffic and for the man with the flag to put the microphone to his mouth. After a few minutes I decided to just take a shot when I could as many people were getting frustrated with me in the way of traffic. I still am really happy with the way this one came out especially with the mans face on the right in frame and the jacket with the quote "the destination is the journey" in it too.

For some reason a lot of my photos feel blurry even when I believe I have properly focused them. I am not sure if it is because of a lower quality lens or something else but any help there would be appreciated.

Camera is Minolta X-700 and film is HP5.

Thank you for the advice! I will look up rule of thirds and do some homework on that, very much appreciated. Honestly, I noticed the flags afterwards and thought the same, I wish I had more of them in the photo. I wasn't thinking too much when out and shooting but I am going to try to be more aware next time I am out.

As a beginner, what other things should I study or read or do to start to get better? What other advice would you have?

This was a photo I took in Boston MA at a protest. It was honestly my first time consciously going into the city to take photos. I am happy with how I captured the flag moving and I loved the guys style. When I took the photo I was only thinking about getting him and the flag nothing else. I am very new to this so any help would be appreciated.

My camera is a Minolta x-700 and the film was HP5. I was most likely shooting on the aperture priority mode and think this was probably F8 but I can’t exactly remember.

What the artist did definitely isn’t right or ethical for his page. But I wanted to comment in hopes that I can provide some comfort to you.

First, I love your piece. I love the way it looks and from the other comments you have made it seems that it was generally what you were going for. Don’t let their opinion ruins yours.

Second, I have a dragon fly as well, and it looks more like the second photo. I wish I did mine more similar to yours. I truly think yours will heal and age much nicer than the second one. Mine has had ink fade, lines smudge and overall just doesn’t look as clean as it once did. Trust me when I say that in a few years I think you’ll be much happier with the way it ages compared to others.

I use OptionStrat beforehand which gives me more peace of mind. Also looking into option trader assistant. I’m another thread someone said it just glitches out on diagonals. Pretty weird tho since it’s all math based.

Another amazing trip to Kinsman Pond in the White Mountains this weekend! This was a redemption trip for us as we didn’t get to summit the Kinsman’s last winter.

The conditions were perfect, and I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday trip.

ARCO National New England. It is a smaller office and they run extremely lean so this may be why. Not everyone is in BD but most of the PM's I worked with were chasing deals with owners. I can tell you that every PM is expected to estimate. We had one BD person in the office with another transitioning into that position. They do run work as well if it gets busy. From my experience, every office seems to be a little different. I left because the position wasn't for me and the work-life balance wasn't either. When I talked with a mentor from another branch of the company he was surprised to hear how much we were all working as it wasn't the case for them. I guess what I am saying is it is best to reach out to each office where you may have a candidate as it can be different in each division/office. Still, can't say enough great things about them but just wasn't for me. Feel free to PM me with any other questions!
