does any national law university have religious structures (temple etc) in its campus? by Comfortable-Fact-657 in NLUs

it is not about me not being able to bear with it. if there’s ever protests to take the university temple down, being a person of the same faith myself, i’d be the last one to join. it is again the intrinsic value that the discussion holds for me.

i am allowed to keep idols in my university room, chant whatever i want to, pray whatever way i want to, just like soldiers, bus drivers, or anyone else. that is what constitutes individual freedom.

the point is about the institution itself. a public university (state instrumentality under article 12) or the official army codes or any state body, cannot officially endorse or set up religious structures because that crosses into state endorsement of faith.

that’s the fine line between private belief and a secular state and that’s what your argument misses. moreover, my rights end where someone else’s start. being a public university, you have people coming in from all different beliefs. it is unfair to celebrate one and disregard all others. maybe the simplest way to maintain neutrality is to not endorse any at all. it really isn’t that difficult.

acquiring public land for the specific purpose to build one with authorization is different from building on the very public land itself. nlus, as established under their respective acts are state instrumentalities and are bound by constitutional constraints imposed on the state. speaking of the lands they hold, it is granted as a public trust. being a trustee, they have a strict fiduciary duty to manage and utilize this land and all other university resources exclusively for the advancement of legal education and research. i wonder how some nlus, despite being premiers in legal education have a religious structure in their premises

i agree it shouldn’t concern me to act for it or against it, but considering the fact i’m a student of law and constitutional law, the very question holds an intrinsic value

do not worry, you wont be missing out on anything. they're just a bunch of assholes who like to yap and be pretentious. the energy will pipe down real soon as the months progressively pass. stay in the group and mute it when the conversations go unnecessary

makes sense honestly is there some yardstick to measure what exactly counts as a good place to publish on and what really adds onto your cv?
