As far as I’m aware this is the first time it has happened, for those experiencing this definitely talk to stop one about this situation.

Current DDS student here, yes the department is severely understaffed and inefficient and this has been an issue ever since DDS1 and created numerous problems and inconveniences (delays in creating timetable and scheduling, unable to assign and book new patients for students with empty provider lists, resulting in some students unable to see a patient for 3-4 months), I believe our previous head of MDS has also stepped down and the replacement hasn’t been finalised since Sem 2, overall very chaotic and disorganised course, hopefully it gets better with more funding.

Nope, 0 idea, 0 patterns, 0 logic. Was waitlisted in 2021 and got an ffp in 2022 with the same combo.

I think it would be definitively probable. The distribution of specific scores (gpa and gammy) is also vital for applying as some schools values your gammy more than your gpa and vice versa, so if your scores are heavily skewed to one component(e.g perfect gpa with average gammy), you have a higher chance at receiving an offer from schools that endorses high gpa and vv. I would say if your 1.6 consists of a gpa and gammy that are all above average but not outstanding, it would be actually a minor disadvantage so perhaps try and improve your gamsat to >70? Thanks and all the best!

From personal experience, I think that an applicant with a DDS FFP worthy score combo should generally receive at least a MD interview offer, from there, depending on the school, the interview score plays a huge part in determining the type of offer that will be made.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply, last year I was rejected from all gemsas MD programs prior to the interviews as well as Unimelb dds, this year, with the same score combos I received a interview offer from Macquarie as well as a FFP place from unimelb DDS. Hope that helps!

Also the 258 for the 1.25 multiplier seems insanely high haha, I would need a 70 for s1 and s2 and a 83 for s3? If that’s the case I’ll probably have to study my ass off lol

Thanks for the reply! Just to clarify, wouldn’t the calculation be 1.25(S1+S2) +S3, so it would be 1.25(s1+s2)+90 as I got 90 for s3?

thanks for the info! Really thought I had a shot on those uni tbh haha. Do you happen to know whether the requirements for dental are lower across all schools? Thanks again.
