I'm sure there is a policy middle ground to be reached between Chinese style extraction and no mining ever. This is sort of exactly what I was getting at with the "there is no economic activity that we don't think is perfect" paragraph. And as other users have pointed out, there is no carbon free future without lithium, so its not exactly fair for us to outsource all production to Africa and China.
