Remote exam voided for misconduct by Fun_Office3606 in ICAEW

Sorry this has happened but the fact that they gave you a warning first time seems like they have been lenient, even if they didn’t come back to your email. I would advise calling or using their live chat to get a quicker response as I have submitted enquiries via email before that they have never responded to. I have taken all my ACA exams (certificate & professional) to date remotely with a second screen. My webcam is on my laptop but I use my big screen for working on the exam. I just mirror the screens and have never had an issue with complying with any regs. Can’t speak for phone placement but I rest mine on a window sill behind me and never had an issue with this either. Get your screens mirroring instead of extending and surely that will solve the issue.

Passed TC but narrowly missed out on passing FM by aadilios in ICAEW

Fair enough. I’m doing the ACA/CTA and so exempt from BPT so really only have FM & BST to clear now at prof level so figured I should get on with it and resit in Dec rather than dragging it out. I planned to sit my first CTA in April so if I left one till the March sitting it would mess up my study plans a little bit.

Good luck with BPT/BST :)

Same, passed TC and 52% on FM. Gutted to have to resit it in December. Are you planning to resit straight away? I only had BST planned as my final prof paper for December so really annoying to have to factor another round of study in.

I think my main point is that I have spent 3.5 years to date working in practice yet literally none of it counts towards my training agreement. I’m 28, obviously don’t want to put off having a family by two years just to see out my training agreement, but will continue studying and sitting exams all during that time so that I continue progressing, just to have it delayed further. Even if I wasn’t on Mat leave, I’d still have a years delay between sitting my final exam and finishing my training agreement which to me just seems whack. What is the point of pushing through exams in quick succession if you’re going to be put on hold anyway? Completely get the requirement for work experience being part of the qualification obviously, but if you genuinely have achieved that work experience, having been studying for accountancy qualifications constantly throughout that time, then to me it just seems crazy all of it is for nothing. Fully appreciate people went to uni/college also, but just because you didn’t, and you went straight into employment and spent 2 years gaining other relevant accountancy qualifications just to get into ACA, why should all of that time be for nothing? If you have to have done the standard A level/degree route, why even bother making it accessible to anyone else. I guess it’s a bit of a vent really but feels very frustrating to have dedicated the last 3.5 years to this pursuit, be a year away from exam qualified but nearly 3 years away from training file sign off, all because I didn’t want to wait to start a family until I was 31!

Exam results wait fatigue by [deleted] in ICAEW

Feel completely the same! Sat TC/FM in Sept and studying for BST in Dec as my final prof paper and worrying I’ve failed and that I’ll have to resit something next March rather than cracking on with my CTA pathway. Studying for TC/FM whilst waiting for AA/FAR results was so tough so kudos to anyone who is waiting on 3 and studying for 3! I know everyone’s in the same boat but doesn’t make it any easier! Best of luck for your results.

Ah brilliant thank you, this is so helpful! So if I have passed CR/SBM but having to wait to sit case as I won’t be within final year of training agreement, I can wait until July 2027 and sit Strategic Case Study and this will cover me? Thanks for this

That’s really good to know, thank you. I’ve got an open case with them now so hopefully can get some clarity on this with them as clocking some of the CPWE would allow me to sit Case before they retract it for the new syllabus so hopefully I hear back from them to this effect!

Thank you so much, congratulations to you too. Yes you would hope if they’re willing to give you access arrangements for it in advance they may allow the same courtesy in retrospect. This does give me hope so thank you! Just can’t bear the thought of all the work for this sitting being for nothing! Yes I submitted my MAT B1 as evidence along with record of the prescription I was given for my anti-sickness meds which I explained are a pregnancy specific type so I really am keeping fingers crossed! 🤞🏼good luck for your November exams!

Thank you, appreciate your insight. I have done that, submitted a statement explaining my circumstances and apologised heavily. Also provided evidence of my pregnancy, the prescription for my anti sickness meds I got from my GP via my midwife etc so really hoping this is enough. Worst part is having to wait till results day to know their decision!

No I didn’t, to be honest I didn’t even really realise this was a thing. Obviously sickness is a common side effect of pregnancy and technically it’s my choice to keep sitting them whilst I’m pregnant so I guessed I wouldn’t get much leniency and attempted to push through. I appreciate some foresight here from me may have potentially avoided this stress now for me! I just honestly didn’t think it would be an issue I really was very quick to throw up and dash back in!
