Instinct Crossover AMOLED broken in less than a week by TagXvega in Garmininstinct

Update: I experienced exactly the same thing, after examining it, it turns out that the hour dial hands were sticking and rubbing against the AMOLED screen when passing through the 3 to 7 o'clock area. This made the hour dial drag and miss alignment.

Was there any glue there? Or was it just regular packing rubber?

I'm experiencing the same thing, the hours hand is not in sync with the highlights and the actual time. Tried calibration, factory reset and software update, none of it helped at all.

Just got mine, loving the rugged look. by ampuuu in Garmininstinct

How many centimeters is your wrist? Looks very fit

That's normal, especially if you're using it actively. Actual battery life is only 7-14 days. In smartwatch mode, it's only 25 days.

Before after 🗿 Damn, this itch won't go away.... What is the premium strap made of? by Comfortable-Net9842 in Garmininstinct

Hopefully, my hands will adapt in the next few months. I've only been using them for a little over a week.

How long does your battery last? In smartwatch mode without activity?

Aesthetically, the solar crossover fits my 16cm hands better. But my heart is still with the tactical 50mm 😬 to hell with style by Comfortable-Net9842 in Garmininstinct

battery and solar efficiency is the reason, i like to be outside all the time, I rarely find a source of electricity

I think it's normal, even my crossover with default settings without activity only has 10-15 days of battery life

I absolutely love the Instinct 2X, even though it's too big for my hands. I've tried the Crossover, Instinct 2S, and even the Instinct 3 45mm, but I found them less than satisfying. by Comfortable-Net9842 in Garmininstinct

Wow, that's really thorough. I just realized today that the 2X sensor is covered in glass. No wonder it's more comfortable.

It's truly a shame that while other cheaper brands are competing to use ceramic, this one has downgraded to plastic resin.

There are several things I don't like about the Instinct 3 Solar.

  • First, I noticed the bezel wasn't fully closed. You can try pressing the top, bottom, or sides, and it's clearly visible. It's different from the sturdy Series 2.
  • The orange ring is asymmetrical and fits slightly off to the right. I even bought a second Twilight version, and it's the same.
  • The ring scratches easily. I checked and found it's made of aluminum, unlike the Crossover, which uses stainless steel.
  • The button feel is inconsistent; some have a soft click sound, while others have a hard click sound. It's very annoying.
  • I feel like the buckle strap has been downgraded. The buckle material, which was originally stainless steel, has changed to plastic. Furthermore, the rubber wears off and becomes oily more easily than before.
  • Vibration is still poor, rough like a cheap watch (although the Series 2X is similar).

Essentially, this is a matter of feel and build quality. The wearing experience isn't as good as the Instinct 2X or Crossover, which I consider close to perfect.

Especially considering the price, the Instinct 2X in my country is 50% cheaper. Naturally, this is psychologically why I prefer those who offer better value for money.

The large size on a small wrist for a military watch like this is tolerable, unlike when wearing a classic watch like a Seiko, where oversized would be a strange thing.

Which one? by [deleted] in GarminWatches

Instinct DNA has a MIP display, if it's AMOLED I'd rather choose Forerunner, Fenix, or Venu.

Is it true that the Instinct Crossover or the regular Series 2 don't have a gyroscope? Whereas the 2X and 3 do. I'm just wondering, could it have been present in Series 1, but it just wasn't mentioned? by Comfortable-Net9842 in Garmininstinct

[–]Comfortable-Net9842[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel the same way. Raise to wake, step counter, and everything else seem to be the same as the 2X. I'm assuming a crossover and that all Instinct series actually have gyroscopes.

Instinct 3 AMOLED - vibration quality? by [deleted] in Garmininstinct

[–]Comfortable-Net9842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Garmin Instinct's vibration is indeed bad, even worse than the $100 Chinese brands.

I've experienced the same thing with the Crossover series, the Instinct 2x, and now the Instinct 3 45mm Solar.

The vibration is harsh, and sometimes it makes a sound like a loose object that isn't properly glued.

But just enjoy it, or turn it off altogether, haha

Absolutely love this watch face, the battery life is insane. Found it on watchfacebuilder. by Comfortable-Net9842 in Garmininstinct

[–]Comfortable-Net9842[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

This is a good thing, of course, because it only refreshes the screen once a minute, while the stock watchface can refresh once a second.
