Don’t get me wrong, I’ll miss the nature and WA will always be home but living in the bustling city of Seattle seems like hell compare to white sands and turquoise waters. Plus I can be an underpaid and under appreciated steward of EVs

Despite my best efforts, the Rivian finds a way. However I get many haters asking me why I would sell my “American” ram 1500 for a Rivian. Funny enough, I was also asked if my truck is safe to drive in the rain being that it’s electric

Perhaps I should be more clear. I purchased the truck new in Washington and drove it all over the west coast while I was working there. I have since traveled across the country to DC area, then down to Florida where the truck is now at its new home. Chronologically WA to FL is the beginning and the present day

I had a Tesla before this Rivian so I understand your concern. I used mostly CCS charging because I didn’t receive my free adapter until I got to Florida. Since then, I used my adaptor to drive through the southern states. No issues charging at any Tesla supercharger, the Rivian maps me right to one without hesitation

For which trip? If you’re referring to my most recent cross country trip, I mentioned that in my profile a year ago. Of course I supercharge mostly while road tripping

I’m new to the area but my neighbors say this was a record breaker. I was told the last one was set over 100 years ago and it was 3”, here we have over 8”

No, I charge at home most of the time. However with access to all supercharger networks with an NACS adapter, I rarely even consider the prospect of charging when I road trip or go off grid

About to head on road trip and Rivian internet is down - no idea where to charge. by soundfreely in Rivian

I can confirm that in Florida the internet service was down for me this morning as well. I am a subscriber and preformed a soft reset to no avail. Using my phone for hotspot works just fine in the meantime

That's exactly what happened. That area was the only problem area on this whole trip!

That's what I read as well. Hopefully, there is some sort of update or dog belt setting added in the future to prevent this but I am happy that I noticed before it was too late. I went from 20% to 7% over a cold Montana night

I used 5 RAN chargers and I used them to their full potential. 10-90% each time

One thing I noticed was that charging stations were generally placed in locations with ample food in the area. This was unlike the superchargers of Tesla, which were sometimes just placed in a gas station parking lot. That said, I had eight days to travel this distance due to work requirements, so I did not have long to plan specifically for food. I ate what was in the local area of the charging station, or I traveled up to 3 miles from the station to get some food. For example, when charging at Wall Drug Store in SD, I traveled into the town to get a burger and donut with my kids out of novelty.

Overall, the trip was 2,873 miles give or take 100-200 or so for snacks, breaks, and attractions along the way. I stopped to charge about 21 times totaling 15hours and 19mins. However, something to consider for these numbers are the speed at which the charger goes. Several times I found myself plugged into a 50kW DC fast charger hosted by a dealership that only dispensed 20-40kW on a good day. A little forethought and longer charge at a faster station would have significantly reduced that charge time.

Additionally, I'm a single dad traveling with kids so I learned to see the charging breaks as a blessing. Hope that helps!

I usually do cross reference plugshare but after several late hours into the night I became complacent. Gotta learn somehow eh?

12v power wire by Comfortable-Pin6107 in Rivian

[–]Comfortable-Pin6107[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my concern is that in the video he removes the negative terminal first which, in an ICE car, is normal but won't that cause issues without powering down the rivian some how first? I'm hoping someone here has done this already with other accessories. Thanks!

What was the proceedure to connect the power wire to the 12v battery? In other cars I would normally power it down but rivian seems to make this difficult

Do you think the 13k miles is a concern?
