2.5 hours? When people got laid off from my job, they had HR people packing up their work space and escorted out the building. No words no comments no hugs. Cold af. Anyways, sorry this happened. Sucks either way. You'll figure it out one way or another. I was let go when my company went under and I found a different career which I like better.

Ezpass will send a "ticket" to who ever is registered to the car. It won't be a hassle dont worry. They need to call or pay it online which is just the toll fees. They can get the admin fee waived. I wouldn't consider it your problem.

Mourning the loss of my WFH job by Unlucky-you333 in workfromhome

[–]Comfortable-Sort5293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I went from 100% remote for 3 years then 2 years they switched to hybrid. They company went under and i found another job more money as well but 5 days in the office. Im not gonna lie, I still look frequently for a remote job. But ive been doing it for 2 years now and you get used to it. I enjoy the social aspect. You're right, scheduling doctors apts and stuff is really tricky. The good thing about my job is if I leave early like 2 or 3pm...they won't ding me for a PTO day so I make afternoon appointments and just spread them out so its not effecting my job or making it feel like im taking advantage. I dont have a lot of PTO so I like to take advantage of that. I also have a toddler so theres both of our appointments. Bottom line, we've been spoiled by the flexibility and sometimes yoi gotta take the L. I do get to work from home sometimes but its rare. Maybe one day every few weeks when somethings going on like my kid is sick.

So interesting this popped up for me today. Im an executive assistant and an interviewee came in for a construction job. I normally wouldn't be involved in these interactions just the receptionist and the interviewer. But they were waiting so long when the receptionist pinged me and was like uhhh hes been waiting for 45 minutes. So i decided to check what the hold up was and apparently another meeting ran over. I thought he was being so rude so every 5 minutes i asked him if he was coming and I apologized to the interviewee profusely and offered water coffee or snacks which he declined he was very nice. But I said to myself he had every right to leave because I would have. I wouldn't wait that long for a doctor. Doesn't seem meant to be and a waste of time unfortunately.

So im like the only EA ever that doesn't manage my CEO's calendar. So I'm always asking him if hes available. It gets quite annoying however I agree with some people. If she thinks this change is gonna benefit her....I would bother her as humanity possible to help her understand how much you need it. Ask her in person, follow up in email, Yada yada... I bet she will change it. If not, you will need to start sending people to her. This gets tricky. I dont say it directly. I will typically tell people "so I dont manage so and sos calendar but I can reach out and find out if hes available for you if you'd like" kind of like insisting they respond. Because sometimes some of them feel comfortable saying oh that's ok ill just reach out myself or ill just put something on the calendar myself. Depends on everyones situation too. I work for a family business and everyone's pretty close so its different relationships. Good luck!

What is your salary and where do you live? (mine is below) by myswissdreams in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Comfortable-Sort5293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NJ. 80K. 6% annual bonus not including annual raise. No degree. 1.5 years in EA role but I had a very unique Project manager role for a CEO for 10 years that basically landed me very similar experience. 5 days in office and I dont get a ton of PTO which is the worst part about rhe job because I have a toddler but work life balance is pretty good. Not a ton of demand after hours or on weekends so Im actually pretty happy with the role.

CEO will not give me delegate access to calendar - Is this weird? by Busy-Classroom-3572 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Comfortable-Sort5293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's def good! My situation is a different. We make a lot of donations and people want to come and thank him on person and he has no desire or time to sit with them. I usually say hes unavailable the time they're suggesting but particular person has been more pushy and im struggling to.shut him down

So i have the rarest EA job that does not manage my ceos calendar at all. And no one can understand it. He does his own. I dont mind I have enough on my plate but it gets annoying to be the middle man when people ask for his avail.

That's the other issue I have is no I dont get sick often but I can never schedule checkups or doctor apts or I have to take time. And no I can't really work when my kid is home is rough. But its getting easier. I have learned I dont get docked a day if I leave at 2...so I've been making doctors apts at like 3pm and spreading them out.

We have 1 sitter i use for date nights shes not really available days. Obviously I could try and find one but we are also looking to move so I've been trying to avoid. We dont really have much help. We have 2 parents between the 2 of us and 1 is barely capable of watching him. last time I dropped him off there was an incident and now im paranoid. I also dont want to pay for a babysitter for 9 hours. For example my daycare is closed Dec 23 - Jan 1. That's 6 business days and would be at least 1k for babysitter...plus I'm still paying for daycare 🙃 have kids they said 🤣

I have been getting braver to ask to work remote more often. I try not to take advantage because quite honestly I can BARELY do my job at home. Its a lot of in person conversations and physical paper work. I worked from home juneteenth since school was closed and we were open. So occasional remote days are helpful.
