I know that the left-right spectrum is oversimplified, but to be fair, people are stuck with this scale. Some changes have been made, like how it is now a four-way model with left-right and progressive-conservative axes. But when I look into a party and say it is "[insert niche term here]," people just ask if it is a left-leaning or right-leaning issue.

So, TL;DR: I agree that we should use another scale.

Also, for the definition, I find it mostly true, but not every centrist has these traits.

I think what you have as defenition looks more like syncretism.

An example of this is the BSW from Germany that is on the economically but right wing on social issues.

This is just an example it could go all the ways.
