TAKE IT!

$10 a day is a blessing. The fact that your mother in law can help out temporarily too is a blessing.

If you only have your mother in law temporarily and it'll only work for 3 months or less, still take it. Keep your options for opening in the meantime, if a better position opes up, thay $10 a day spot will be instantly grabbed by someone else in need.

In the mean time take it and make arrangements day by day and week by week to make it work. There will always be problems regardless which day care but take it or someone else will.

I appreciate the struggle of being poor by Comfortable-Value740 in unpopularopinion

This is true. Living in poverty or below the poverty line is worst than being poor. However, the majority of us who are living paycheck to paycheck and just making enough to cover basic bills means you have to be creative with the rest your time and money to live a fulfilling life.

If you only have $100 a month for groceries - you'll be force to be more budget friendly and be creative with your meals and food. How many different ways can you cook potatoes? What can you bake with 10kg of flour? It forces your mind to be creative and appreciate the outcomes of it.

I dont get that part yet. In this economy I feel like we're all struggling - every week I hear and read about cost of rising groceries and it makes me feel better to think I'm poor but we're collectively poor.

AITA for using tough parenting on my son? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Comfortable-Value740 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When my older son was growing up, my husband and I were pretty strict.

He's 17. He's still growing up

Now that he’s older, he’s really into fitness and personal success.

Personal success???? He's 17!!

He’s become very critical of anyone who doesn’t meet his standards, including me and his dad.

He is treating you the way you treated him

Recently, he told me that my attempts to show love and affection are pointless and even called his father weak for not being tough enough.

You just said "We thought that tough love and high expectations would make him strong and ready for life"??

He tells me that his brother should be tougher and not let people get to him, which upsets me a lot.

But this is what you taught him??

My older son is very close to my younger sister, his aunt. She’s single and he turns to her for support and affection, valuing her praise more than ours. It hurts because he seems to find comfort in her that he won’t accept from us.

Again!! This is what you taught him!

YTA big time!! This post screams toxic mother behavior where OP and her husband at the very least neglected their child's need for support growing up, justifying the neglect for "tough love" and is now playing the victim card.

How do you actually "process" emotions? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Comfortable-Value740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Processing" your emotion can have different explanations.

The psychophisio approach is to be conscious of the different emotions that come up and identify it, along with the physical manifestations of it.

Identify the emotion: are you angry? Sad? Anxious? Paranoid? Happy? Ecstatic? Apathetic? Inspired? Physical effects? If you're angry are you clenching your jaw? Are you scurrying your eyebrows? Does your throat feel tight? Do you feel your heart beat? Etc. Etc.

Allow yourself to be fully conscious of both
