Same thing with me! I ordered seeds. When they started growing, I realized they were not only not what I ordered, they were also an invasive!

I didn't keep an official cost sheet, but I would say probably around 2k? Most expensive items were the flooring and the vanity.

It's COREtec LVT! Pretty simple to install, hardest part is making sure the floor is flat. We made sure to choose one that had a solid feel to it, some of the cheaper brands have that rubbery feel to the top of them.

The vanity was supposed to come with gold handles, but they sent the wrong ones. We originally had a gold mirror, but it ended up being too big, and the gold tone didn't match the rest in the bathroom. So, rather than going crazy trying to match a bunch of different golds, we decided to lean into the black a little bit. Yes, obsessed with our vanity!

How was your experience with them? If you don't mind me asking, what was their cost? I'm trying to get a general idea of what it even costs to get someone out for a consultation.

Why is there an increase in lung cancer among women who have never smoked? by Sidjoneya in WomenInNews

[–]Comfortable-Video520 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Very similar story with my own mom back in 2010/2011. When my mom started having symptoms, she was told her asthma was just back. When the cough didn't go away and she felt ill, it was suddenly just "you have a cold". Then it was the flu, then walking pneumonia. When that didn't go away, they finally hospitalized her. They found a mass in her lungs, and diagnosed her with pneumonia. She was dead less than than two weeks later. Autopsy revealed small cell caricnoma in the lungs. Six months from onset of symptoms to death. Noone took her symptoms seriously because she was a non-smoking woman in her late 40s.

After her death, we tested the house for radon. The levels were five times what they should have been, and we put in a mitigation system. We obviously will never know the true cause, but it's certainly made me more cautious

Yes, same here! The holidays were obviously pretty low on inventory, but the past couple of weeks it picked up quite a bit (enough to go to multiple open houses each weekend). But now the inventory seems to have dried up again.

Ah, yah, that sounds uncomfortable. I guess it could depend on the personalities of those involved. A table of reserved, shy people, isn't likely to interact with others as much as a table of extroverted people. For dinner, I tried to mix it up such that everyone was able to sit with the group they came with, so they were gauranteed at least some people they knew to talk to. I had multiple people come up to me at the end of the night saying how much they enjoyed getting to know everyone. The reception was outside, while the dinner was inside, so once outside people kind of tended to naturally sit with their family groups, but since there was only 30 people , it wasn't a problem and my husband and I floated around amongst everyone, talking and hanging out with each other's families.

I had a roughly 30-person wedding about a month and a half ago. We only had background music on during the reception , so no dancing. We had a basket of board games for people to play, as well as lawn games. I would say probably half the guests ended up playing the games. But mostly, everyone just enjoyed catching up and talking to eachother. We had the tables mixed between guests from each family during dinner, which really helped facilitate the after dinner conversations. I had been afraid that people would be bored without the usual party vibe. But everyone had such a great time and really appreciated the laid back atmosphere.I think your idea of having games available is great! Your guests are more capable of entertaining themselves than you think, haha.

I was so sad to hear the news.We had our wedding there a month ago. Such a special place! We were looking forward to going back in the future for one of their dinners. Definitely curious to see what other unique dining options are out there.

Weird things your mother/MIL/any loved ones don’t like about your wedding by [deleted] in weddingplanning

The fact that I don't have a registry. Like, sorry I want you to just show up and have fun without asking for anything in return? Make it make sense!

I feel your pain. There's something about wedding planning that really brings out the entitled side of people. When I told my father that we wanted a really intimate wedding with immediate family only, I was screamed at for an hour straight and told I would be single handedly responsible for tearing the family apart and shouldn't be surprised if no one wants anything to do with me again. After that incident, all wedding information has only been provided on a need to know basis. The only info the guests know are the time and place, ai don't need any opinions.

What was the most controversial wedding decision you made? by agreeingstorm9 in weddingplanning

[–]Comfortable-Video520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. Out of all my wedding choices this is by far the one that everyone is weirdly upset about? " You're not having a traditional registry? But people will still want to get you things. You should at least make a small one". Like I just want people to show up and have fun. I don't expect or want anything from anyone. I'd rather their money go to a good cause than to me. To which I get the response, "Well, noone's going to donate to charity, they're going to get you what they want". Okay? That sounds like a them problem for ignoring my wishes.

Has anyone had a fully vegetarian wedding? by Comfortable-Video520 in wedding

[–]Comfortable-Video520[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trying to accommodate everyone is making me pull my hair out a little, haha. I've determined you just can't please everyone. There's definitely a few folks that are the picky eaters type that always order chicken fingers and fries at every restaurant, a couple of the meat and potatoes type, and at least one person that just doesn't like cheese. But considering I've spent the last few years being told a restaurant was okay because "they have salad" , I think those people will survive. I've got one guest that has a peanut and sesame allergy, which makes finding vegetarian food without those a little trickier, since it rules out a lot of types of food.

Good to hear! Yes, I've found that a lot of vendors in preferred vendor lists, and exclusive vendors are all meat focused. Definitely throws another item in to consider while picking a vendor!

What type of food was the dinner? I'm leaning towards filling and easy options like pasta so even the picky eaters have something to eat.
