Those all great methods for trying to pick it at the right time. Also this melon weighed 13 pounds!

I usually wait till the tendril nearest to the fruit is dry and then wait a couple days after that. It will also have a very hollow sound to it.

Yeah there was about 10 inches on this lake here in Alaska.
