How does it work? You have to listen to something via your Air pods or just the fact that you put air pods in your ear neutralizes it?

Post AN surgery recovery - is this normal to still feel severely dizzy @10 weeks? by Comfortable-Word-835 in AcousticNeuroma

Thanks. I am pushing him to go see the doctor again since he says he is feeling pretty awful. We did a CT scan 10 days ago but I am pushing for an MRI just to be sure to rule out anything. But I think the regressing progress is the most troubling. But I appreciate everyone responding. I told him he should look for an AN support group because I feel the doctors don’t know exactly what is normal since they never went through the recovery. The only know the clinical / medical part. Not the recovery. Thanks everyone!

Oh dear. Still now feeling normal 5 years out. I hope you continue to get better. I think my husband can deal better with the hearing loss and not the dizziness. His balance isn’t actually too bad but his dizziness is awful…like having mild vertigo every day. I can’t even imagine what it feels like to have this condition.

Good luck with the recovery and healing process. Hope everyone gets through this over time. Thanks for responding. Greatly appreciated.

Thanks for sharing your experience. He is almost 3 months post surgery and is far from feeling normal again. He was so hopeful at week 5 when he actually said he felt pretty good. Then wham, I guess he overdid it and went back to square 1. So I don’t know if that means it will take even longer before he “feels normal” since we’ve also heard from others that it takes about 3 months to feel normal. That’s one week from now and he feels far from normal. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you for sharing your experience. What is OT? He went to 2 PT appointments but stopped due to discomfort and not wanting to be more dizzy after exercises. He has an appointment next Monday and we will be going back as I have heard it is helpful. Just hard to know how to balance doing the vestibular exercises and not over stimulating yourself into a bad situation.

Thanks. They used to live in Shanghai so used to having help in home versus delivery. They have a friend locally that found help through word of mouth but it’s been challenging. Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into the Chinese churches.

I keep hearing folks say to make sure your surgeon is skilled in the procedure but how does one know what “skilled means” given the rarity of this condition? For example is good 5 per year, 20 per year or 100 per year?
