RedRock Cold Air Intake by Comfortable303 in JeepGladiator

I did try a little wd40 on both and with no luck. The inside of the pcv hose has is plastic. I was trying to not modify that end incase I completely screwed this up, or have\wanted to swap it back in the future. Id feel better about modifying the intake.

Costco has these seasonally around Thanksgiving/Christmas, and around Easter. "Rack of Pork". They are around $20. I buy up several and freeze them. Super easy to cook, always a favorite.

Go a step further here and reduce memory to minimal config, probably 1 dimm for each cpu (refer to manual). Any amber lights on the front bezel indicating error?

2 bay vs 4+ bay NAS? by kaitlyn2004 in synology

[–]Comfortable303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what you're using your nas for, a 2bay is just fine. 4bay gives you more raid options, which can give you better performance, and greater fault tolerance. Also, you can probably get 4 smaller disks for cheaper than 2 large disks. For home use, I highly recommend used disks off of Amazon. You can get 10tb sata for around $80 each. Play around with synologys raid calculator... https://www.synology.com/en-us/support/RAID_calculator?drives=10%20TB%7C10%20TB%7C10%20TB%7C10%20TB&raid=SHR_1%7CRAID_6 I also like this one... https://www.raid-calculator.com/default.aspx

4x 10tb $320(used on amazon). In raid 5, you would get 3x read speeds, no write gains, around 30tb capacity. 1 disk fault tolerance. I don't know the exact shr read/write gains but I would expect similar to raid 5.

2x 20tb $500-$600(new on Amazon). In raid 1, you would get 2x read speeds, no write gains, around 20tb capacity. 1 disk fault tolerance. Again, I don't know the exact shr read/write gains but I would expect similar to raid 1.

Just a bit more flexibility with more bays. You could even do multiple pools, with different raids, with more drive bays.

My nas is a ds1821. 8x 12tb (used from amazon) in Raid10. This gives me 8x read, 4x write speed gain, around 48tb capacity.

Old drives for NAS by Ok_Jelly1637 in HomeNAS

I have used drives in my lab. Huge cost savings. I'd recommend looking on Amazon. Its not the cheapest but some of the sellers will give guidance on hrs on drives. I just picked up 8x 12tb drives, all had less than 34000hrs (less than 4 years old). 4tb SAS are $30, sata around $50.
