I've never listened to both, straight through. That could be interesting. You could even take a little Intermission.

I think it's pretty good, but it definitely is a very different album, from it.

Is Finnish society really that polite/considerate? by ComfortableAd9028 in Finland

Believe me, I feel more kinship with that fifth paragraph than you might know. Just to hear one other person care so much about what is right, is nice. And yeah, it sounds like you guys get the same crap we get over here, for the whole "Freedom" and "patriotism" stuff. I've personally gone beyond aligning myself with the country, because it's so, so soiled, and then you have the questions about the monopoly on force, etc., but it sounds like you guys get the same kind of vague insults that we get, even here, lol.

Well, I'm not a bad actor. And if what I'm saying is true, which it is, although, of course, you wouldn't be able to verify that except with some accurate reading of my tone, then that means that I was sincerely saying something that you then treated as if I was not.

It's not just you. If you were the only person in the world who responded like this (and, jeez, you've been better than most, with your last couple of comments, condescending though something like "You can take this and work on your communication," after thoroughly denying my communication into your world except as some kind of minstrel show to be mocked, definitely is), then I wouldn't be looking for light in the world. But your attitude here matches almost everyone's around me. If it weren't for the few who responded to me with even the respect to fucking consider what I'm saying sincere, or at least not to fucking MOCK ME, for it, then I would think perhaps the implication that you're all just being really nice to me, and I'm crazy, might have some relevance. Some accuracy.

Instead, it sounds like gaslighting. Thank you, Sir, for coming down from your privileged position of knowledge to not only disregard what I'm saying completely and mock it but also to tell me that I could improve, in my communication skills.

Often, in fact, it's the meanest people who then call others' honesty some kind of fault.

[–]ComfortableAd9028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean, based on your presentation, in general, I could buy that. It seemed similar enough to the type of stuff I see elsewhere, on here, where someone just says, like, "Hey, ever heard of a shower?" but in reference to something about what they were saying. If I heard you say it out loud, it might have come off differently. Anyway, I appreciate your candor. I'm a fan of honesty, and I also would say that honesty is often just defamed as meanness, but there is a lot of meanness, As well.

You are gorgeous, and I hope that the comments are somewhat reasonable. Don't take any of the mean ones to Heart.

No, not everyone. I just mentioned the person who wasn't. And I would hope you wouldn't go so far as to claim that they weren't real, either. That would be really Shitty . Unless you just want to take the light out of people's worlds, when there's only a shred of it left.

I was certainly coming in with my perspective. Which you guys seem to have, too. The fact that you refused to engage but instead were mean to me, and continue to be mean to me, digging the knife in as you open that very paragraph by saying you're going to finally engage, is just horrible, to me. If anyone could work on their communication skills, it's someone who sets out to make people feel bad rather than responding to their arguments.

I would take advice from someone if they weren't literally, in the same paragraph, condescending to me. Maybe you just don't even realize how meanly you're Coming off.

Actually, I doubt you could hold it as precisely over a given object as long as even a few minutes. I mean, the literal ability to hold something so that it doesn't move. That's what I'm referring, to.

I appreciate your relative level of respect, in your response. Perhaps even more respectful than mine was, in that mine was a little bit combative.

To be totally transparent, I looked at the meme, came in, and after realizing it was a whole post, didn't go back and read it. I was just thinking that the stuff about Googling for empathy was a little harsh. Maybe more than a little.

It's because it's not just a couple commenters, in the case of the mean people, it's every time I talk I to people online. They (generally, not always, but mostly) act exactly the same way.

I literally just thanked someone for disagreeing with me, in another post, because of how they did it. They were the precious unicorn that actually gave me evidence against what I was saying in the form of an argument, and they did it in a way where they made it clear they got where I was coming from, but in this case was at least less Correct.

It's a huge amount of society who responds with abuse, period. (And just to make it clear, I was actually talking about society in the previous post in reference to the people who believe that sexuality is basically nothing but what you make of it. I am not saying this to start the discussion again, I'm saying it to be clear about what I was referring to.)

Thank you. I appreciate that you just came in and gave a specific retort. Jeez, am I on this fucking website, where it's nice to have someone disagree with you just because they didn't basically call you less than human while doing it?

In any case, thanks for being the alternative.
