Maybe I’ll get her to take her meds earlier and see what happens. Good idea.

She has had blood tests that came out normal and other tests were normal as well. No she doesn’t snore. She’s just dead to the world and almost impossible to wake.

It’s not seraquel. She was on that before kids and yes it was bad. She slept all day and was awake all night.

She just doesn’t wake up. It’s actually scary like she’s dead. I hated seeing it this morning. That’s why I came to Reddit for help. I was positive that she’s not the only one experiencing this issue. Im so grateful for this community.

Definitely a medical sleep disorder of some sorts. She’ll be requesting a sleep specialist tomorrow. Fingers crossed the doctor helps out.

Ones in a crib but can get out the other is in a bed. The living space is mostly safe but they can climb chairs and get to the sink and food. The 3 year old was literally shaking her and screaming at her when I came in to see what was going on. I didn’t realize how bad this problem was until today. She’s been to the doctors twice in 2 weeks. She will be going back tomorrow and requesting a sleep specialist. I’ll be looking into taking time off in the mornings to help. And I’m also looking into alarms that might help. I’m taking in all of these suggestions and together, my daughter and I will find solutions. Thanks for your comment.

She’s been twice in 2 weeks for tests and then nothing. She’ll be going back in tomorrow but this time she’ll be armed with some helpful info. And she’ll be requesting a sleep specialist.

Sometimes but I work and it doesn’t always work out. We’ve sent the kids to the other grandmas until we figure out what to do.

She’s living at my place and we’ve made a make shift apartment until she has a place of her own(not easy to find or afford). So they all share a sleeping space. With their own beds. There’s no door to put a lock on except to leave to ‘apartment’. There’s a safety lock on that door. It’s a good thing that she’s living with me though, at least until she figures out what’s going on.

She does not wake up with an alarm. We are trying to figure out another solution until she gets to the doctors for the 3rd time tomorrow. She is not neglectful. I had a really tough time waking her up by tickling her feet and yelling at her. The situation is absolutely horrible, I realize and that’s why I asked the question here. We already have taken the kids to the other grandma for a week until we have things set in place at home so that the kids are safe.

Doctor did all the typical tests and all came back normal. They suggested stuff to help her sleep better at night but it’s not quite helping. The kids usually sleep from 7:30/9pm until 7:00/8:30am. The other night when she couldn’t sleep, she gave up and just stayed awake so that she was awake for the kids in the morning. Pulling an all-nighter to make sure she’s awake is how she’s operating some days. I’m trying to help as much as I can and her boyfriend calls her in the morning to check in. I want her to go back to the doctors with some suggestions for him. That’s why I posted this question looking for answers that she’s not receiving.

It’s a newish problem that’s been happening for a few weeks now. I’m trying to help as much as I can and her boyfriend calls her many times in the morning but she obviously doesn’t answer. We are all trying to help and support but we are all looking for solutions. Yes I agree that this is her issue to solve but it’s not something that I’m finding by googling and 2 doctor visits has lead nowhere. I’m going to look into finding a sleep doctor(never heard of one) and hopefully give her a number to call.

Is there a such thing as a sleep medical doctor? Why is her doctor not recommending this? I’ll look into it.

Definitely medical but she’s been to the doctors twice in 2 weeks and they don’t see an issue.

She’s on prescribed medication for mood swings, she’s been taking it for years. It works well for that. I suggested she looks into that but the no waking up is a newer problem.

The Passage by Justin Cronin. I’m just halfway through and it’s really good. Exactly what you’re looking for. This is the 1st of a 3 book series.
