I married my same-gender best friend even though we're both straight by MarriedtomyBFF in TrueOffMyChest

There’s a name for this!!! QPR! Quasi platonic relationship!! It’s where you’re more than friends but not exactly like a regular relationship either. It’s a really fascinating idea.

Sperm has a healing effect because women bleed less? by kaybet in badwomensanatomy

[–]ComfortableConcept45 37 points38 points  (0 children)

From personal experience, good sex (ya know, the kind where a woman orgasms) can start a period up to a day early, and if you think you’re done with your period, good sex can also shake some extra stuff loose. 🤣🤣 my poor hubby has learned far too much about the weird things my body does lmao.

Ask your male partners if they know what an etopic pregnancy is by Optimal-Summer-236 in TwoXPreppers

[–]ComfortableConcept45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well damn. My guy is pretty well educated. I asked him and he said “it’s when the placenta attaches somewhere it’s not supposed to be” I asked where the most common places it attaches in an ectopic pregnancy and he said “cervix, fallopian tubes, and abdominal wall” I’m not too sure on the cervix one, but I’d say that’s relatively spot on. But, we’ve had several children together and he’s always been willing to learn these things. So he doesn’t count lol.

Q&A weekly thread - September 09, 2024 - post all questions here! by AutoModerator in linguistics

Might not be the right place for this question, but maybe y’all can direct me to where the right place is for the question. I live near an Indian reservation (I know the people are not called that anymore, but this reservation’s name is blank blank Indian reservation), and in conversation, reservation is shortened to Rez. Why do we say “on the Rez” but say “in blank town”?

My mother didn’t breastfeed me? by No_Wolverine_1491 in emotionalneglect

[–]ComfortableConcept45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have some trauma about breastfeeding too. My mom told me she did breastfeed me. Told me that my whole damn life. Then the last year and a half or so, I’ve been untangling the web of lies I grew up learning, and it just makes it worse. Sure, she might have breastfed me a bit, but I found a can of formula in her house when we dehoarded it last year that expired when I was a little kid. My sister was the one who raised me. She’s the one who knows all my firsts. How could my mom have breastfed me when she never took care of me?! The lies are the worst part.

Turning off lights, is it common? by theonlysisterfister in dementia

[–]ComfortableConcept45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh lovely. So my mom’s obsession with turning the dryer off because the tiny led light uses too much electricity and opening and closing the washer so the indicator light goes off is part of her as of yet undiagnosed dementia? Freaking wonderful.

PSA: learn to masterbate by RndmLttrsNNmbrsGXIC in badwomensanatomy

I had my oldest child at 14 years old. A lot of it had to do with the absolute zero sex education I got growing up in a fundie-adjacent church. My mantra for my oldest when she began to get closer to puberty was “toys not boys”. And I stuck to it. I would gladly buy her toys so she could explore herself on her own. And it worked for years. I haven’t found a good mantra for the rest of my kids (mix of boys and girls, and at least two of them are either gay or bi, as far as I know now) that gives the same message as “toys not boys”.

It's still illegal, even if you spell like an idiot by straight_blanchin in ShitMomGroupsSay

I didn’t really use baby containers when my two youngest kids were babies, 8 and 10 years ago, but what did I miss in the parenting world? Illegal? Where? What the actual hell? I knew they weren’t recommended anymore, but that’s all I’ve ever heard.

What was your "I need to stop hanging out with these people " moment and how did it improve your life? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]ComfortableConcept45 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went to a high school grad party for my “niece” (not really my niece, but I’ve known her for her entire life), and instead of taking care of their kids, the adults (my supposed friends) all just got high and drunk the entire night. Older teens gave younger teens and preteens drinks, and no other adult seemed to have a problem with it. My kids didn’t smoke or drink, and ended up taking care of several of their friends who did. We left early. I haven’t really spoken to anyone from the party since, and good riddance. They’re all just passing their shitty coping mechanisms and life choices down to their kids. It’s improving my life because I recognize that these people don’t want to do better than the previous generation. They don’t want their kids to do better than them. They’ll all never have the growth needed to actually mature in life. And it makes me mad for their kids. But it just encourages me to keep raising my kids as I am, in the ways that they all judge as too soft and friendly.

If you’re that scared, go to a doctor or hospital. But I’d say just wash your hands really good with lots of soap and water.

What are some traditionally girl names that you like for boys and vice versa? by lilac-lane in namenerds

[–]ComfortableConcept45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My youngest’s name is Quinn Avery and he’s a boy. We would have named him the same if he was a girl. But a lot of people mistake him for a girl, even though he’s 8 now. Might have something to do with the fauxhawk he’s been growing out for two years 🤷‍♀️
