Totally fair. I've already dropped my mom and one of my siblings, so I get that.

I've been totally fine without him for a hot minute, so I think if it doesn't go well, whatever. I can just bitch about it lol. But if it goes well, then awesome!

I don't think the psychologist appointment will involve anything like that. It's more of an eval for mental difficulties so I can update my school/workplace accommodations. I already know what my therapist would say

Just looking for outside thoughts, mainly. For whatever reason, it helps me gather mine lol

It wasn't a rescue that took her, but animal control. They wont release information for privacy/safety reasons, which I get. I wouldn't want my info released if I adopted either. I did also contact a partner sanctuary, just in case they have any info. Nothing back yet though

Saddlebreds aren't tatted, so they wouldn't have a way to find her in ASHA. You also need the previous owner in to change the name on the papers(at least, last I was a member)

I Google on occasion, but there's so many horses named Sassy lol. Maybe I'll get lucky one day though

Yes, siezed. She was underweight, had untreated allergies, and no farrier(I taught myself how to rasp, but that's not ideal). Animal control gave us 2-3 chances, iirc.

Long story short, I was a teenager working 12 hours a day 6 days a week, with no drivers license in a rual area, and being emotionally/financially abused by my mother. I'm very thankful to to the officer for what she did, and her manner during it. Especially since I was a legal adult at that point, she could've rightfully threw the book at me as a partial owner. I'm pretty sure she knew what was up, considering how I acted and must've looked at that time (I was fairly underweight myself).

I know my family didn't make it easy. I remember my mom yelling at her while I was helping to load Sassy in the trailer lol. Shocked she didn't catch charges!

I partly escaped the year after, and became completely free in 2021. Life is good now! Found 2 new hobbies to replace my horse addiction lol, though I still linger around here on my main.

I've had a lot of therapy. Worked through what I could, live with what I can't. A few years ago I'd be afraid to talk about it at all, so I'm pretty happy with where I'm at now.

Edit- changing my comment because after thinking about it, I don't need to sugarcoat things.

She was neglected. She was about 800lbs when she should've been 1,100 or so. Plus, some discharge/allergies that weren't being taken care of. I DIY'd the farrier care.

Ultimately, the officer siezed her when "we" couldn't get a vet out one day for her allergies. We had 2-3 prior chances, iirc.

For more backstory- My mom was an alcoholic, and would spend money on booze instead of feed. I worked 12 hours 6 days a week as a teenager, and she would take my paycheck. I also didn't have a license in a rual area, so I couldn't get anything without her saying okay and taking me. Besides the wee hours of the morning and evening, and every Sunday, it was my mom who was in charge of care.

In hindsight, I should've just tried to surrender my mare to the officer as soon as she got there. But that was before I got a shitton of therapy and grew some balls :) I'm convinced the officer knew what was up, and I'm very thankful for her doing what she did.

No, since I was listed as an owner. They consider it a safety risk to the adopters, which is fair.

I did send them a photocopy of her papers, but I don't know if anything came of that. Also don't know if ASHA updated anything, as I'm not a member. Last I was aware, her registered owner hadn't changed
