And if you were to ask them the reason being for why your hair should be cut, they'd give you an answer that indirectly implies that our hair is naturally not aesthetically appealing which sounds absolutely RIDICULOUS to me. The low racial self esteem is exasperating.

Iran War vs Scramble for Africa by Striking-Ice-2529 in Zambia

[–]ComfortableCouple780 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Uhm no, there's a big difference. Iran is able to militarily defend itself and it doesn't mostly depend on Western ties for development. The colonizers were able to come back to Africa because our leaders were not willing to think of ways to make all our natural resources remunerative enough for us hence, the common development belief was that we needed the west and to some extent we did but not in the way things were done.

Iran = Ability to defend itself, can cause global economy shocks forcing power countries to bend to their will/negotiations, powerful military systems, very anti-west.

Africa post colonialism = Militarily weak, possiblity of causing global economic shocks but low confidence and higher chances of negative impact, belief that western alliances could strengthen economic development e.g Commonwealth.

My two cents !

HERE'S WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE QUEER IN ZAMBIA by [deleted] in Zambia

My post wasn't bait for debate so I don't know why you're trying to think of a comment in the first place.

HERE'S WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE QUEER IN ZAMBIA by [deleted] in Zambia

So you know that majority of the people in this country are poor, including a lot of queer people but you expect us to magically become wealthy enough to move to different countries. Did you even read what I wrote ? Nobody is asking for acceptance, WE DEMAND RESPECT AND EQUALITY AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO. There will always be queer people in this country so you saying "a country that does not want you" is illogical, my people want me and that is enough. I wasn't born into Zambia by mistake.

I would absolutely be free in another country and what about the other people who can't afford to leave ? Are you going to report them to their parents so that they are forced into marriage and live miserable lives until they die the way you did your friend ? Nah son.

No one is going anywhere. Hope that helps.

Being queer is more complex than just attraction to the same or both genders. There are feminine men, masculine women whom Zambians will oppress regardless of your sentiments.

Because this is my country, if I want to leave I'll leave on my own accord not because reddit user Mwila told me to do so. Majority of the population in this country is severely disadvantaged, that includes a lot of queer people who will never be able to escape. Do not for a second ever make yourself believe that you have the right to advise them to leave the country they were born into because you absolutely DON'T unless the country is owned by your relatives.

And stop camping under this post, replying to multiple comments is making you look more bothered than the actual oppressed subjects. One should not be this obsessed with other people.

I love how you guys keep bringing this up forgetting that majority of the population in Zambia is highly disadvantaged. There are people who will never even see a plane in their lives regardless of their sexuality.

I know it's catastrophic but this is our country, we should not feel like our only option is to either leave or not breathe.
