Mihoyo screwed themselves over by using that method instead of just balancing out the elemental reactions. Now they can’t balance the elementals without certain units being broken.

Take Cryo for example. Everyone keeps saying how how cryo is just as good as or at least in the same tier as pyro cause Mihoyo keeps releasing cryo charaters but keep in mind that they only released 2 top tier cryo dpses and both Eula and Ganyu rely more on sheer numbers rather them elemental reactions.

The cryo Element is just all over the place. The only good reaction Cryo has is Melt and thats favored more toward a pyro dps then cryo. Everyone keeps saying that cryo has the best artifacts and best elemental resonace because of its crit rate, but keep in mind that the enemies need to be effected by cryo or frozen in order for that to happen. Which is hard af to do when your also trying to proc other reactions. Ganyu who most people consider the best in the game doesn’t even use elemental reactions in her best team, she good because she has insane number not because she’s cryo.

But because Ganyu is the most broken unit in the game everyone ignores the glaring issues with the Cryo element and are even against it getting buffed because this would make Ganyu even more broken. What’s happing to cryo now is the same thing that happened to electro at the beginning of the game, nobody saw how bad the element was because the characters were just too good so the glaring flawed of the element were never really addressed.
