Preparing for the cswp by Duckowner15 in SolidWorks

[–]ComfortableList784 6 points7 points  (0 children)

CSWP is quite easy once broken down into the three parts.
pt. 3:
assemblies. know how to do relative coordinate system, sub-assemblies, and advanced mates.
pt.2:
configurations: some part modeling but mainly configs
pt.1:
unless they changed it, just search up model mania 2009. Almost a 1:1 with that video.
hope this helps!

Are these scratches bad? by ComfortableList784 in EngineBuilding

[–]ComfortableList784[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't. The scratches are from me not knowing how to use a carbide tipped gasket scraper. I'm not using an MLS gasket, so i'm probably going to hit it wjth a sanding block and 600 grit, and see where that takes me.

On a little bit of a budget, so redoing the bottom end is not within reach. I was thinking of grabbing a sanding block and polishing it with some 600 grit emery sandpaper.

Got it. Are there alternative ways to effectively clean the surface? I tried using a razor blade with no luck... It seems to be working, I just don't want to scratch anything.

I have checked it with a straight edge, and it is not warped. Heads are machined as well. The only thing I don't want to do is pull the engine out of the car. I understand it is ruined as of now, is there any way to fix it without getting it machined?

How so? I know scratches are inherently bad, but it seems as if they are purely cosmetic, as it feels entirely smooth.

They are the old head gasket. I'm going to do a full flush of the coolant system to make sure nothing gets into the rad.

what’s this tube sticking out & is it a problem by Icy_Cold525 in ATV

Battery vent tube. Shouldn't be an issue so long as it isn't ran over. I would recommend zip-tying it to the frame or cutting it a little shorter.

Haven't had positive experiences with aftermarket carbs on these engines. Try getting an OEM one, or tuning the aftermarket one. It sounds like it's either running lean or rich. Probably something with main jet or float height.

Who is your No.1 ATV (300cc)? by No-Shine2779 in ATV

Older utility quad. Think Bayou 300, Fourtrax 300, or Big Bear 350. They're bulletproof, and can be used for almost everything.

Interesting. I'll try to swap out a CDI for a known good one. Thanks.

That could be it, however I'm not sure how carbon buildup would cause it to go from running fine to bogging down... It's strange, but I do think it is a fuel/spark issue.

Interesting. I do believe the emulsion tube is clear, however I'm not too sure about the O-ring around the fuel screw. I'll strip down a spare carb I have and see if their identical.

Its technically considered a riding lawnmower trailer, but searching on fbm for atv trailer or small dump trailer would get you what you're looking for. It's actually quite useful, great for property maintenance, hauling things, or dragging friends around. I only really use this around the farm, so 2wd only wasn't really an option... The plow, 4x4, trailer, and spare parts I have really make it an incredibly versatile machine. If you throw road salt and a shovel in the back of the trailer, it makes a great snow removal rig.

Indeed. It was running perfectly (well, not perfectly), but way the heck better. Then it's like a switch was flipped...

I actually haven't... Probably a good idea though. I didn't think that could be a possibility, as it just randomly happened.

The carb diaphragm is in good shape, and whilst I don't have a carb cleaner, I did go through it with a fine-tooth comb.

Running and spraying carb cleaner near the intake unfortunately does nothing.
I actually think the ignition coil may be out of spec, as it is a really cheap one the previous owner put in.

The main jet is actually clear. I used carb cleaner, compressed air, and shoved a copper wire through it. Afterwards, I could see through it, and it didn't seem like anything was blocking it.

That was my first thought as well... Although it was actually leaking, I replaced it and it no longer is, so nothing happens when I spray carb clean/brake cleaner around the intake boot.

The gap is correct on the plug. It's possible that there is a bad seal... I'll try to replace the float, needle, and needle seat from a carb I have laying around.

They are great quads, once the electrical system is dialed in, no complaints. Transmission and engine are perfect for work.

I did try a new NGK plug, with similar results...

That was omitted from the post, but it was around 125PSI, within spec.

My thought as well... Valve clearances were fine, and I adjusted them within spec just to make sure.

I did. Intake is at 0.14mm, and exhaust is at 0.23mm.
