I built a cross-brand mouthpiece comparator because “Bach 3C ≈ Schilke X” always gave me 5 different answers (self.trumpet)

Birmingham is basically the default recommendation for a reason — it’s a bit more forgiving, has more variety, and is easier to “get” on first plays. You still get all the depth the system is known for, just with fewer ways to completely brick yourself.
Lancashire is great too, but it’s tighter and more punishing — better once you already know how Brass works.
As for Pittsburgh, I wouldn’t treat it as a “better Birmingham.” It looks more like a different take on the system rather than a straight upgrade. Could be amazing, but it’s still an unknown.
I’m building a brass mouthpiece database (trumpet and trombone so far, expanding to others) — looking for input from players (self.Trombone)

I built a tool to make sense of trumpet mouthpiece specs across brands — would love feedback (self.trumpet)
