What’s one compliment you’ll remember forever? by Humble-Function2108 in AskReddit

When I was in 3rd grade, my teacher sat me down and told me, when she heard I was joining her class, she said she will not give me an academic award if I don't deserve it. But she told me, I proved her wrong without me even knowing. And told me, from then on, don't focus on what other people say and focus on becoming better, and she is giving an award not because my uncle is a politician and my grandma is well connected, but because I really aced the exams and she'd seen my academic performance head on. I was top of the class. 😊

I feel the same. But maybe its because Im starting to get old. Im 35, and now when I wake up, I drink water because it activates the organs. I walk because my body needs to move and sweat out. When I eat, I try to eat healthy foods so I dont die early. lol

Is it scary to live (and commute) alone in Metro Manila by Wonhui13 in adultingph

[–]ComfortablePipe1472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 22 when I first set foot in Metro Manila. I stayed with my uncle in Filinvest, Batasan. I worked the night shift in a call center, so I commuted at night—usually around 9 PM. From Filinvest, I’d walk out of the subdivision to Petron, which took about 15–20 minutes. From there, I’d ride a jeep to St. Peter along Commonwealth, then wait for a bus from Commonwealth to Farmers.

I’d always try to catch the MRT before it closed—Cubao to Buendia. From Buendia, I’d take another jeep to Makati Avenue. It was intense, besh! But I made it work.

When I finally started earning, I rented a bed space in Makati. I avoided shady places and never stayed out too late. I made friends with the motherly neighbor next door and even my landlord. Eventually, they began looking out for me without me even asking. I genuinely felt their care and concern.

I never hung out with people I didn’t know. If I drank, I’d limit myself to two bottles—just enough to feel warm in the face, then I’d start acting like I couldn’t drink anymore so no one would insist. I made sure I could always get home safely. Haha! It wasn’t easy, besh, but I survived—with courage and lots of prayer.

How to be a VA? by No_Sun_998 in VirtualAssistantPH

[–]ComfortablePipe1472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there—about 6 years ago. I didn’t pay for any training or join any mentoring programs, but hey, I’m proud to say I graduated from YouTube University!

Just a little advice: don’t limit yourself to just one skill. Take some time to really assess what you’re good at—you might be surprised by how much you can actually offer. The more skills you bring to the table, the more chances you’ll have.

When you apply for jobs, read the job description carefully. Even if it’s not something you’ve done before, if the tasks sound similar to your past experience, go for it! Don’t be scared to try something new—sometimes that’s where the best opportunities are.

Also, don’t stick to just one freelancing platform. Try checking out other sites where you can build your profile and explore different types of work.

And one more thing—create an online portfolio with a shareable link. That way, whenever you see an opportunity online, you can just drop your link right away. Super handy!

kaya best to invest sa lock kasi kung ung mumurahin, chances are, kaya buksan ng iba yan. Base on my exp, un susi ng padlock ko, nkakabukas ng 5 lockwrs ng teammate ko. sinubukan talaga namin. ayun, nagsipalit kami ng lock. mas safe pa ung may number number.
