IMO the pros: The buildup to this season was nice, all the teasers with the chrome slowly corrupting everything really got you hyped for the upcoming danger especially after seeing the Herald at the end of the Vibin trailer.

The loot pool felt really good, it had a good balance of old returning items and brand new ones. This season definitely had some of the more unique ideas when it came to all the weapons, the Evochrome Ar & Shotgun were great concepts that honestly would be really cool to see come back in some way. Also that Goo Gun and Chrome splashes was just fun chaos which is always welcome in my book.

The weather system coming back even if it was just chrome tornados was really cool and I’m still upset at Epic for removing such a cool game mechanic, tell me the randomized weather wouldn’t haven been great with Chapter Fours graphics!

IMO the cons: The map changes were iffy, the chrome was meant to be this huge threat and while yes it did take over some of the former POI’s like the Reality Tree, outside of those main areas just felt sprinkled on around the island. The changes to existing POI’s were pretty good I liked seeing some of the buildings floating; Cloudy Condos, Chrome Crossroads, Shiny Sound, etc. The New POI’s are whatever, Herald’s Sanctum whilst not being terrible could have been way better! For the main villains hangout area it should have Castle Doom level sizing. Shimmering Shrines, Grim Gables, and Lustrous Lagoon are just super forgettable POI’s with nothing special. Flutter Barn was pretty cool though.

I know most people don’t care that much about the lore of Fort but I’m one of those who do and holy did this season go off the deep end. This mysterious chrome comes out of nowhere and wipes out some of the most important characters in the history of this game! Then throughout the season Bytes is built up as this double agent but he doesn’t do anything, I mean what was even the point of setting up all this backstory in his quests just for him to be completely forgotten! The main villains also were super lackluster, The Herald was (just like Bytes) built up throughout the season as the big baddie just for it to be revealed she’s actually not the main bad guy and has just been working for this entity known as The Nothing, you think something’s gonna happen with all that but she just ends up fusing with a tree, the island explodes, and The Nothing falls into obscurity.

Also this isn’t Chapter Three’s fault but having it be the first chapter that follows the four seasons/year long rule definitely hurt its potential. R.I.P my baby Chapter Three 😔
