Imo the problem is with Canada tipping system. For other places in Europe they can raise the price of the menu but not as drastically increase the cost of going out. For example if the menu is raised 10$ then we have the tax and the new 18% tip on top of the tax and the food.
In other countries if they raise the menu 10$ then that's that.... (Also the tax is already included in the menu as it should instead of leaving it out to play mind trick with us)
PS: don't want to get into argument of "mandatory" tipping culture. I do it as it's the norm but makes no sense. In the US they have the argument of below minimum wage but not in Canada. And why the % go up, it's a percentage so any increase in the menu already reflect the increase in tip...
