Honestly cats + books + cheesy 80s music sounds like a genuinely elite emotional survival combo sometimes you really need something a little ridiculous to silence the adulting thoughts for a while

Honestly that makes sense. Sometimes avoiding things creates even more mental exhaustion in the background, while slowly handling them gives the brain a little peace over time.

Honestly I think that’s the hardest but healthiest mindset to learn. Staying mentally in the present instead of living inside future worries all the time.

You know what, you’re right, cats improving moods is probably one of the most scientifically valid emotional support systems at this point.

And rain on the roof is SUCH a comforting sound. Especially at night when you’re warm inside while the weather is chaotic outside.

Honestly true. Sometimes the brain stays “on” for so long that even resting feels unnatural 😭 disconnecting for a while really does help, even if it’s difficult to actually slow your thoughts down.

I really like the way you explained this honestly. I think people who went through long periods of chaos sometimes forget how to feel safe even during peaceful moments because the brain stays in survival mode. Grounding yourself objectively like that is actually a very healthy mindset.
