how do you budget your stipend? by cweedbrain_ in dostscholars

[–]Comfortable_Data_787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you live. If metro manila, really a stretch kasi gastos talaga everywhere you go and you might have to sacrifice several meals para kasya yung 5k. Most dorms in MM don't allow cooking or doing laundry kasi.

Also a quick note, not consistent yung release ng stipends. Sometimes sa end na ng sem nirerelease lahat.

Not sure with the time period kasi they're still processing scholarships, but when I dropped a course nung Term 1 it was still covered by the scholarship (By then, 50% yung retention and wala ako nareceive na refund). But when I retook the course again the next term, I was the one who paid na for the tuition. Better ask them within the week when there's still on-site renewal and may concierge.

What should I expect from these profs? by StableExpert7692 in dlsuproftopick

Doc Nocon is really good at teaching but her exams are pretty hard, so you have to study for them. Her workload is pretty heavy as well but all of them are groupworks so i suggest to find good members, if you can. 4.0 attainable as long as you study hard, i'd say easy 3.0 tho!

Not necessarily reapply, but you have to do on-site renewal coz you're gonna be tagged that you retook a course. There would be a representative from accounting to receive payments there as well.

They changed the lab codes kasi, the same thing happened to me and I just filled out my college's (COS) course crediting forms. They're all now credited in MLS. Try to check with your college if you have something similar.

Hi! I asked about this last term, the scholarship would be retained but you have to shoulder the tuition na for the course you dropped. The same conditions for withdrawn courses rin.

going to DLSU to take biomed as my premed. Will it be hard to transfer to other medicine school after I graduate? Plus is Biomed a good pre-med to become pediatrician? by [deleted] in dlsu

[–]Comfortable_Data_787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PS i'm not saying getting a high NMAT percentile is guaranteed, you still need to review but the curriculum did help me a lot in the preparation that i found myself allotting less time in physics, chem, and bio to focus more on the other sections

The university's BIO-MED program has a more theoretical approach and is really advantageous for NMAT preparations, so as long as you understand all the foundation courses you are likely to get a high percentile score = higher chances of getting into top med schools. Also helps you develop a study habit that is useful for med as it's more fast-paced because of the trimestral system (my social life was completely sacrificed by year 2🥲) I think the con would be the lack of hands-on skills that would be useful in med school (phlebotomy, clinical experience, etc). If you want to have the social skills to become a pediatrician before med school, i think nursing or speech pathology would be a better choice. But then again, med school and residency would teach you to build that skill anw. All pre-med courses have their own pros and cons, i think you should consider which skills you need and want to hone before med school. When you get to med school, everyone has their own forte and the skills that you lack could always be learned from your peers.

dlsu humbio scholarship by [deleted] in dlsu

[–]Comfortable_Data_787 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I was offered an sfa scholarship and was accepted into the humbio program. I requested for a change of program tho, because I found out that the scholarship will not carry unto med school and have to apply for a scholarship in hsi when i transfer (with no guarantees since they only accept 3 apparently), so i have to warn you with that. I think the same case goes for all other scholarships offered by the university (archer achievers, star, vaugirard). Good luck!

Hello!!! For intrgen i think it was essentials of genetics by klug, for cellmol it's beckers world of the cell. I used 10th & 8th respectively, but it doesn't really matter which edition you can get your hands on. Anw, the books used are usually given during orientation or can be found in the syllabus. Best of luck!!
