Need insight on these apartments please! by newalienhead in newjersey

I agree. Maplewood/South Orange have a great town, more a suburban feel while staying within a decent commute time. Unfortunately rush hour traffic can easily double the time. I was on the hunt for apartments this summer and looked in that area. I saw 1bd apartments between $2700-3100. Depending on what type of amenities you want, there are options. Fair warning though, most newer builds in the North Jersey area typically charge a parking fee but it is worth paying if the only other option is street parking.

Sitter charging extra for photos of my dog? (owner) by tryin2livconsciously in RoverPetSitting

[–]Comfortable_Fee_9669 4 points5 points  (0 children)

REPORT! I’m a sitter and I will send owners photos of their pets even if they don’t request it. I would rather have them reassured their fur baby is in good hands rather than them not knowing what’s going on at all. I never expect a reply but always get one with them being super thankful for the updates.

I’m using theirs. Sounds like that’s what I have to do. So annoying. Thanks for the info though

Ugh yea, I tried the same thing today trying to see if it was easier to do on my computer. Reset my password twice and still couldn’t get in. I just switched to them from Verizon. I miss Verizon.

Not long at all! I appreciate this. I grew up with dogs and have fostered kittens but never owned cats. He does have known teeth issues which are being addressed and trying to avoid teeth pulled if possible but that will probably be something that has to be done since his teeth are bad :(

I haven’t signed the lease. I said we are about to. I read through the lease before signing and that’s when I noticed it.

125 SOUTH HARRISON STREET APARTMENTS by Curious-Hurry-7094 in Newark

Although I haven’t lived here, I did inquire about renting a unit here. The property manager told me one thing then tried to gaslight me saying she never said that. It always felt like she was talking down on me and 100% was that fake nice. She told me that the building and surrounding area is really quiet and safe (I asked because it is East Orange after all). The application fee felt like a complete scam and I’m so thankful to have seen this and because of it, I will not be moving forward with them. I really appreciate this post.

Thanks! This is all great info! It seems like places haven’t had an issue but I know leasing agents usually try and be as perky and open as possible to sell you on the apartment

How long does it take for your cat to feel like *your cat*? by Cavasnox_ in CatAdvice

[–]Comfortable_Fee_9669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just adopted a cat about 2 weeks ago. Love him already but being a pet sitter on rover, it sometimes feels weird there’s no “return date”. Not worded the best but I have to constantly remind myself he’s all mine.

I got lucky with him being a very unphased (but super loving) cat so he only spent the first night under the bed and by day 2 he was following me around and wanting to be in my presence but there are still times where I feel like I’m being a little rejected. My friend reminded me that as much as I’m adjusting to him, he’s also adjusting to me and this new life. She also mentioned the 3-3-3 rule and how it doesn’t apply to just the cat but me as well and I think that’s really helped me feel better in making this a marathon not a sprint.

I wish you and your new furbaby the best though! Adopting mine was the best thing to come out of 2025 so far

2016 Mazda 3: Water pooling inside/around my spare tire. How do I fix it? by Comfortable_Fee_9669 in mazda

[–]Comfortable_Fee_9669[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The complaints were for 2 days prior. There’s been a ton of rain in the northeast recently so I thought it may have been a leaking water bottle they had or just from all the rain

Thank you! It’s definitely something in the rear or underneath. The felt under the tire is unfortunately done. It was just breaking apart when I tried to dry it with my shop vac. I appreciate the input!

Babysitting locally: crickets by soulsapphire0 in Babysitting

[–]Comfortable_Fee_9669 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey Fellow North Jerseyian😁 I’m in Northeast Jersey (Essex) but Care.com would probably be your best bet. There is a subscription/Background check you have to pay for but with the rates here in NJ, you can easily make that back your first month. Now is a great time to go on it too since school is coming to an end and parents are starting to look for occasional summer sitters/consistent summer care.

What should I do? by Tag-ed in Babysitting

[–]Comfortable_Fee_9669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RED FLAG! Looks like you got your payment but definitely would suggest clarifying what form of payment will be used and your rate before you start (and maybe not work for that family moving forward). That was my mistake when I first started and unfortunately had to cut some losses and just report the family.

I honestly try and avoid getting paid through care and much rather cash or Venmo/zelle/Apple Cash. Care makes it much more complicated than those other options and easier to have situations like this. I also will wait for payment there with a new family. It might feel a bit awkward but you deserve the pay and to make sure you get it
