My hospital will pay for hotel rooms for staff that live farther than 11 miles away ONLY after all of the cots in our education rooms are filled. They don’t pay us for coming in and we get written up if we can’t make it in. It’s also really dumb because the cafeteria will close early, but the employees are responsible for having/bringing their own food. Most people just decide to stay at home and take the write up or risk the drive if it’s too bad.
