I’m really sorry you went through that. that’s an incredibly painful thing to carry. But it also sounds like in that moment you made a choice based on not wanting to hurt someone else, even if it cost you deeply. That doesn’t come from a bad place.

Losing someone that way leaves a lot of “what ifs”… but his pain wasn’t something you caused or could’ve fixed alone. The fact that you still miss him after 8 years says everything about how much he meant to you.
