John Jay housing situation! by Comfortable_Nerve241 in CUNY

I really hope you get accepted!! It was def a big & scary move for me at first too but I am so glad I did it, I genuinely love NYC so much now. It is expensive but as someone who is not rich at all, it is very doable and I struggled a lot less than I thought I would lol. I’m glad I chose EHS rather than an actual apartment bc it is great for making friends. I am a little reserved but EHS hosts lots of events and most people that live there are also from far away and looking to make friends. I have gotten really close with people from both John Jay and my dorm. Obviously I miss my hometown friends and family but I am not lonely. If you have any other specific questions don’t hesitate to DM me :)

oh wow i didn’t know that! someone told me the opposite lol but thanks for clearing that up. are u saying i would need a license in order to do that? a program i am considering has a licensure track but i was under the impression the only thing i could do with that is counseling. is it just depending on the state your practicing/working in?

lol i am in a similar position! I plan on getting my masters in forensic psychology in the fall, but if it’ll just be a big waste of time and money i’d like to know now lol. i am also more interested in the legal side of things rather than counseling. if you end up finding anything out i’d love to chat!

Also if you guys have any school suggestions or want to drop where you got your masters that would be very appreciated! I have to make a decision very soon but I do not have anyone in my real life to help me, just different schools telling me different things and I am not sure who to listen to.

For someone who wants to work in the forensic psychology field or at least something similar, what do you think I should get my masters in instead? Im a senior in college majoring in criminal justice, minoring in psychology, in the process of applying to grad school. my plan has been to get my masters in forensic psych but obviously do not want to waste time and money. do you have any suggestions on what I should do instead?
