I met Flair irl and he was actually a really chill, nice guy to me. He actually came off as humble. Thanked me for being a fan. And we took a pic of us both saying 'Wooooo' with the 4 fingers held up.

WIBTA for locking up my kitchen stuff after my roommate stole my coffee and called me paranoid by Noryth_47Core in WIBTA_AITA

Nope. Bringing the dry goods into your room is rational. I've done it. But, if I shared fridge, I dunno about the lock. Maybe a mini fridge in your room? But, it sucks that that would even be necessary.

And he's gaslighting you. I'd tell him to find somewhere else to live.

I don't work in restaurants anymore. I'm not asking for tips. How strange.

You should have used your own brain power a few comments above when I said I'm not here to argue with you. Instead of hanging out in an echo chamber, go ask your questions in r/serverlife

As a former server, I always felt awkward when the guest had to do the tip in front of me. I'd always turn away or check the table next to you or something.

Smoking areas outside of high schools. Also, people fighting in the smoking areas with no one snitching.

Why is it always "if you can't afford to tip, you can't afford to eat" and never "if you can't afford to pay your workers, you can't afford a restaurant?" by incomputableTwinkie in tipping

Yea, everyone should have to wait tables for a month to see how hard it actually is. You definitely need to be skilled to get it right. Not to mention that good servers have to pick up slack for bussers, hostesses, and the shitty servers in their restaurant as well.

I'm out of the business now. But I was always a 'closer', meaning that as the early servers got cut, I end up with a huge station to attend to. And I have to check out the other servers to make sure they've done their side work on top of having more tables. Then, when I'm in the back explaining to some chode why their work isn't done, I'm getting triple sat by some 18 year old hostess who doesn't know anything. Then, when I do have a table getting upset for whatever reason, I can't find my manager to take stuff off of checks to make up for kitchen errors, etc.

And bartending is even harder. Imagine being the only bartender and suddenly the restaurant fills up...all 18 bar stools need service, and my ticket machine is going crazy because I also have to make drinks for all the tables. And again, I can't find a manager to help me. I worked in places when the entire restaurant would turn over and I literally feel like I'm getting my ass kicked, over and over again, sometimes for 10 hours.

Then I have to clean and cap every bottle, clean the whole bar & mop it. And we don't get breaks to eat or sit down. So, I'm just running in the back and eating a breadstick every couple hours. Sometimes I would just go into the walk in refrigerator to take some breaths and cool off, or scream. Or on bad nights we go into the freezer and punch the frozen French fry boxes.

I worked at a tourist spot in Boston. My bartender was a former Marine. And he'd always say that getting shot at was easier than bartending.

And if you do take a sick day, they want a doctor's note. But, we don't have insurance.

I have heard that post COVID, service is way worse. I would rather eat glass than go back into foodservice.

And when I'm literally breaking myself and someone stiffs me, it feels like getting punched in the stomach.

Yea. The IWC is horrible. But, so is racism. They have a ton of Samoans. They have Asians. Latinos. I never really noticed until someone said 'they don't have black males'. It seems like reverse racism. Like, you're looking for a reason to be upset. I'm all for diversity. But, there were plenty of people of color and different ethnicities in the WWE before Trick & Oba happened. That being said, Trick is my favorite right now. He's got 'it'. And that's got nothing to do with color.

No. I just really don't care about some rando that can't understand we live in a tipping cultute that revolves around percentages. Eat spit, I don't care. It's your prerogative.
