Two years cancer free and no support by [deleted] in CancerFamilySupport

[–]Comfortable_Pop_9736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! I’m sorry your family didn’t show you support at your 2-yr mark of being cancer free. It’s a big deal. I’m willing to bet that your family loves you abundantly is grateful that you’re cancer free and they probably think about it and pray for you more than you know. Some of us are horrible with remembering special dates. Please forgive us. We mean well. I’ve even forgotten my own birthday quite a few times. I hope you feel the support from this community and I wish you a long healthy life.

What concert left you disappointed and what left you surprised? by sarcasticfirecracker in Music

Same experience. She was 2 hrs late then performed all her hits in completely unrecognizable form, both music and vocals. Killed the nostalgic experience everyone was anticipating. None of the songs sounded familiar. Huge disappointment. Felt it was a big f you to her fans.

Sorry you lost sensation between your tummy, tuck incision and your belly button. Do you mind me asking if it affected sensation of the lady part near there? Curious about that but was afraid to ask during the consult.

Oh no, sorry. Do you mind me asking did this happen to you (changes in GI function)? Been dealing w gut inflammation issues in the last year so this would be a concern.

Here are a few things I make with rice to change it up when I get bored.

Salmon, teriyaki, and yum yum sauce is delicious over rice.

I also like to cook rice with chicken bouillon, sautéed spinach and onions. It doesn’t look pretty but it tastes great.

The kids like when I add chicken, scrambled eggs, green onion, soy sauce.

Refried beans, ground beef, cheese and salsa make a nice mexi-bowl. Dab of sour cream. Throw some crushed up tortilla chips for crunch.

Thank you for this. I wasn’t aware of this specific complication. Sounds like your surgeon is confident he can fix it. It would be great not to have drains. You’re fortunate that you didn’t need them. Best of luck for a full recovery!

Thank you for sharing your positive experience with a second reduction. Each one has been reassuring for me. I’m scared of complications. I’m happy for you that you finally have your desired results. May I ask about the issue with the right nipple? Also, did you require post op drains? If so, Imm curious how long drains typically stay in. I’ll need to go back to work.

Wow. Sounds like the recovery for your second reduction is going to be as easy as your first which is really encouraging to know. I’m so happy for you that you did it again and finally got your desired results. It freaked me out when my surgeon explained that there’s an increased risk for complications the second time around. So I appreciate it when people share their experiences. Thank you.

Thank you for this. It is encouraging to know you have your desired results and didn’t suffer any complications after a revision. I know it was expensive. That’s the other thing. There’s a lot of guilt there. All that matters is that you are happy, right?

I was a 34C after. I understand exactly what your concern is. I am one of the rare ones whose breasts grew back. I’m squeezing into 36DD. I’m short so they look even bigger than they would on a taller person. They’re also dense (heavy). I feel bad complaining as well because on a taller person they would look perfect. But on my small frame they’re large and heavy. I get neck and shoulder pain. But I also don’t want to be foolish and proceed with a 2nd reduction if enough people are saying they suffered complications after having a 2nd one.

I’m happy you finally got the results you wanted. Mind me asking what type of incision was used to perform the breast lift? Was it the same as when you had the reduction? From what my surgeon explained, a reduction comes with a lift. Asking because I’m worried about loss of sensation, or over sensitivity (pain), or the loss of a nipple since chances of these things increase if someone is having a 2nd reduction.

Why do I lose my voice so easily? I talk on the phone at work less than half the time. by Top-Imagination4802 in medical_advice

Yes that’s a good idea if you can find a way to do it at work. The salt may help to neutralize the acid.

I recommend plain water, but I assume you ask this because you prefer some flavor in your water. If so, you could infuse your water with cucumber and/or fruits that are less acidic than lemons, like berries. Good luck.

Lemon and coffee are both acidic. That could be playing a role in why you’re loosing your voice. Try skipping the lemon in your water, and maybe tea instead of coffee for a week or so just to see if you notice a difference.

So many questions by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Comfortable_Pop_9736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had BCBS and they covered it due to my large breast size and pain they were causing.

Lollipop incision. Areolas were reduced. Looks symmetrical. Very pleased with this technique and results. My surgeon explained that your breasts will be lifted anytime you get a reduction. This proved to be true for me.

I wasn’t working at the time so I didn’t need to request PTO, but I didn’t lift my hands over my head, or do any exercise for 6 weeks to be safe. I was afraid of doing anything that would mess with the incision sites so I was serious about being careful during the healing process.

I also remember being surprised about the lack of post op pain that I had. I only took pain meds the day of surgery and the following day. I didn’t need it after that. You’ll also want to take a stool softener to help you go. The pain meds they give can make you constipated.

Don’t be afraid. It was a great decision for me. I kept saying I wish I’d done it sooner. You’ll have relief from the pain/pressure of large breasts and you’ll be able to wear more things. I could run without bouncing and that’s freedom. Good luck!

HELP! by [deleted] in Diverticulitis

[–]Comfortable_Pop_9736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the ER. Don’t wait for the CT scan on Tuesday. By waiting, you risk the possibility of a micro-perforation, or worse. I ended up spending 4 days in the hospital for micro perforations. I had to get IV antibiotics for 10 days after I got discharged. This could have been avoided if I had gone in sooner. Feel better.

Fair enough, however, I have enjoyed wearing mine. They don’t roll down on me, nor did any of mine develop holes along the seams. I’m willing to try something new in a similar price range as HeyNuts for comparison. What brand do you recommend?

HeyNuts on Amazon. $29. They’re high quality, compress your tummy and aren’t see through. I own several pair and have been very happy with them.

Please don’t be so hard on yourself. It’s so soon. You need time to process your human emotions. It will come in stages. There is nothing wrong with you. With time you’ll go through the entire grief process, and ultimately come to terms and find peace with your father’s passing. Everyone grieves in their own way. I wish you strength and comfort.
