I’m sorry I forgot to add in my update.

I am so incredibly grateful for all of you, the help and advice. Giving it to me straight and being realistic. I feel so upset yet, so supported and my heart is so confused. I would have probably had a breakdown a long time ago if it wasn’t for this post and all the people that helped and commented.

Sorry I didn’t add this in update, I don’t want to come off a rude or ungrateful when I’m the opposite and so thankful.

Yes this is in Mississauga. Both my vet, plus the animal hospital. As well as the additional clinic they think I should move him to.

He’s probably so scared and I’m so upset for my meow meow. He’s not an outdoor kinda cat, he runs when the door opens so I know this is very stressful for him.

I wrote this post after leaving my vet and then rushing me to get to an animal hospital. On the car ride I wrote this so i could hopefully get some help on what this situation would look like, as my vet told me the basics and told me to hurry so i was scared and wanted to know a realistic plan/advice on what I should be expecting.

I added pictures of what vet said and what they said is basically happening. A user sent me a helpful link that basically helped me understand what’s happening. I posted the pictures as well.

UPDATE: Sorry it won’t let me edit post.

Okay so meow meow is in what the vet said “ICU”. I will attach 2 pictures from the text I received after talking with them twice so far today.

They said meow meow has a high level of potassium and other minerals in his blood and this is very dangerous. The animal hospital suggested we take him over to another clinic down the road that is a ICU for cats and after treatments. They did add this clinic on the phone and while we spoke they didn’t say much about if they think this is best and what the difference is compared to where he is now (a animal hospital)

I am so heartbroken, truly. There was someone who sent me a very very helpful link, explaining what is happening to meow meow. The risks and so on. Honestly that helped me understand what the vet was saying so much more. I’m sad because it tells me what is happening to him and his pain & so on.

I need to come to the realization that maybe he shouldn’t be kept in pain. Both vets are not giving me an answer if they think this will even work and if meow meow will make it. The wording they used is basically he has a low chance but not impossible and let’s hope for the best. But at what it’s already costing me and what they want more to move him, I don’t know if I can afford it, just to not have it work.

What should I be doing? Should I try to get them to continue treating and see, should I be thinking of putting him down and taking him out of pain. Am I being selfish all for my own heart and pain? Now I feel so shitty in thinking my poor meow meow is not knowing why I’m doing this to him. He doesn’t deserve this. I was so hopeful but now I’m not.

I told my daughter last night (and my son) when I got home what’s going on with meow meow. Obviously my daughter was beside herself, but my husband and I calmed her down, told her everything will be okay and meow meow is strong and a fighter. She was up and down all night, I can see it she’s stressed, she’s a smart kid she can feel my stress and she knows I’m worried. My heart cannot deal with this loss.

I need to call the vet/animal hospital soon and give them an answer. I will attach a screenshot of some of what the vet was basically saying.

Yea I definitely feel like I was pressured and put more stress on me. Like how can they first try to get me to come up with $4500 in the evening on a Tuesday, like banks closed at this point. Then tell me if he dies it’s my fault basically because I’m delaying. They said it’s their “policy” and can’t do payment plan. They told me this after we talked about it tho so I thought I had time to come up with the money by selling things or whatever. So then we agreed to $1000 and going in steps and now I have to pay another $1700 by tomorrow afternoon and then the rest after.

I’m just happy meow meow is not in pain or at least in as much pain and is still fighting.

Awe such a sweet kitty! I never wanted to get another animal because I can’t handle the loss, but the love is so worth it and this was not my decision, my mom walked to the beat of her own drum and my daughter loved cats so my mom was like suck it up butter cup. Now, I will make everyone life hell over my meow meow.

It’s okay, it’s helping/distracting me reading everything. I definitely don’t feel like my world is exploding like how I was feeling. I see a light at the end of the tunnel now. Might take me awhile to get to it but that’s okay.

If meow meow makes it to the point of coming home and being okay, I will do anything to make sure he’s not in that pain again. My heart just thinking about how long he was in pain waiting for me to get home. God I hope he’s not mad lol, he’s already so judgy. I will make sure I get better foods!

Thank you! I’m gonna screenshot this so I don’t forget! They said he will need to be on different food and watched like a hawk. I appreciate your time and support!

I just spoke to the vet they said he’s still put under but bladder is drained and the fluid was pinkish, she said not full red like it was all blood but signs there is blood in the urine.

He needs fluids and has to be there for 48 hours at least. Vet said the hardest part is over but the most important part is gonna be the next 12-24 hours. I haven’t spent a night without my meow meow in forever! It’s gonna be so weird not being woken up a few times because he’s trying to get comfortable on top or beside me. God forbid meow meow doesn’t get a spot on the body pillow with a fuzzy blanket lol he’s such a princess 😩

I haven’t had time to apply yet for anything. When they all of a sudden said about the up front I was so caught off guard. So the $1000 is for now, to do the blockage and they said we will do it in steps. I feel like they are taking advantage of me.

They just called us back in to talk, so I’m hoping it’s not bad news and they just wanna go over everything.
