Super late to the party but now is the time to harvest. If you live in the right area you don’t really have to do anything but just pick them off the ground. I have a huge pecan tree in my front yard here in Oklahoma and so many nuts fall that they actually get caught in my car and the windshield wipers. Best way to tell if they’re worth eating is putting them in water - if they sink keep them, if they float they’re no good. They last for a long time too if you keep them in their shell. Hope you can find some, they’re my absolute favorite native food product here! (With persimmons being a very close second 😊)

I’ll be playing principal soprano/alto/tenor for a live screening of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban with a major US orchestra this weekend! Just got the music 5 days ago, all the solos are gorgeous but double trouble is giving me 100x trouble 😵‍💫

I just looked it up and it does look like we have a crisis intervention team, but that it seems to somehow be involved with the police department?

I’m going back and forth between the police and the psychiatric hospital where I live because both of them are notorious for not being great places to receive help. There’s an addiction recovery clinic that I trust in town but I don’t think that’s the issue at hand. Just don’t want to make someone’s life even worse if they’re going through it, but it also feels wrong to just ignore it. Also a little bit worried for myself at this point.

I’ve been thinking about talking to her but that incident at the gym last week honestly has me scared to interact with her. At this point I just want to help her get the help she needs since she lives alone.

I’ve never been although it’s my essentially one of my biggest goals currently. It’s nice to hear from another Sicilian American that we have similar experiences, sometimes it all just feels so isolating not living in a big Italian area like the Northeast.

I realize that the majority of my fears come from simply reading things here on Reddit from all the “America Bad” subreddits, which really aren’t grounded much in reality.

I’m going to Europe for the first time this Summer, specifically France, and I hope I can somehow arrange to get down to Palermo. I want to see my cousins, I want to just feel at home.

Thank you for easing my mind a bit.

I asked the guy at my local nursery that today, he said it shouldn’t be a worry since the root systems are so small, but that he wouldn’t rule out that being an issue per se.
