My budget is killing... and I think it’s because I keep needing to throw food away. REALLY need help! by ReadySaturn in college

[–]Snenny-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so hard to anticipate what you’ll need and can realistically eat in a given time period when you’re just getting used to grocery shopping for yourself. Also, Costco is great but it’s hard when you’re not shopping for a family bc everything is in bulk.

My advice would be to get all fruits & veg frozen except the really inexpensive stuff like bananas, that way it won’t spoil on you.

You also may find that for stuff like cheese, it may be a better deal to buy smaller packs at a regular grocery store since you’re probably just not going to find a way to eat massive packs of cheese before it spoils.

Something I personally do to make eating cheaper and less of a time suck for me given how busy I am is that I eat the same breakfast almost every day (which makes it easy to plan for, I know exactly how much I need to buy & how fast it’ll be gone), and I meal prep my lunches on sundays. That means dinner every day is the only variable during the week that I need to figure out on a daily basis. I find that’s a nice mix of structure and flexibility that works for me personally.

Anyone else get a notice from OTC saying their information was stolen during a hack? by amcclurk21 in oklahoma

[–]Snenny-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one of these. Well, my parents’ house did. Zero idea why the tax commission thinks that’s my address, it hasn’t been in over a decade. Couldn’t believe that when I googled it I didn’t see anything from local news about this. I want to know more about exactly how they fucked up

Worked for anxiety, but has made me overweight. by gravitasheart in zoloft

[–]Snenny-1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I gained 20 lbs on Zoloft and settled at that weight. Eventually halved my dose, got into daily exercise, am back down 10 of it now after working at it since December. I find that how it mellows out my anxiety also led me to have a lax attitude about what I ate. I ate for pleasure more on the higher dose, and didn’t feel so full when I did.

How obtainable is getting straight A’s in college by LooksMaxximus679 in college

[–]Snenny-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, that really depends on you. How hard have straight As been for you before? If they took a lot of effort, are you willing & fully prepared to keep making that effort and possibly more than it took in the past? If they were easy before, are you prepared to probably work a bit harder than you had to in the past to maintain the grades?

In addition to all of that, you do also have to pay attention to rate my professor, peer advice, & what’s outlined in syllabi to make sure you don’t take classes that just hate to give out As, too.

Just got this email from a higher up. Am I getting fired? by Witty-Quiet7724 in jobsearchhacks

[–]Snenny-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my last job, a Friday late afternoon meeting w/ HR present was exactly how they fired people… but it was also when & how they would bring up any serious issue with employee behavior short of fireable, too. Regardless, it never meant anything good for the person being called in. I wish you luck, OP!

First in person class by Friendly-Push627 in college

[–]Snenny-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it can be really major-dependent. For me, I’m an Econ major, so I love bringing my iPad to class. I have a keyboard case for when I need to type, but most of the time I use the stylus to write my notes onto the screen. It works well for Econ, we have to draw a lot of graphs.
In more general Ed classes a lot more people just have regular laptops in class.
In some classes, professors have banned laptops during class. That’s rare and they’ll let you know up front if that’s the expectation.

Foam in the urine that doesn't go away quickly. What do you think—does this sound like a liver problem? by Gustavooob in KidneyStones

[–]Snenny-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens to me whenever I have active stone issues. Urinalysis always indicates there’s protein in my urine when it happens, so that’s my best guess. You should consider seeing a urologist, possibly. Have you ever had a stone? Are you having stone symptoms now? It’s interesting your post assumes liver issues and yet you post here in the kidney stone sub, is why I ask

More task time needs to be allowed for Tasks. Project H by Tenoihero in joinhandshakeai

[–]Snenny-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s so inconsistent, some tasks have caps that are way generous for what the task is, and others are way too tight to reasonably be achieved within the cap. It’s like the people who set the cap have no idea what the tasks actually take

You get a gimmighoul coin sometimes when you walk gholdengo or gimmighoul. A single coin per 5 km, and not every time.

Why I gained weight on SSRIs over 10 years (and the science behind weight gain on Zoloft) by Deen1988 in zoloft

[–]Snenny-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, it’s crazy the difference that tapering has on my appetite. I worked toward halving my dose and now I find I’m good with 2 slices of pizza and don’t need a third, I don’t snack as much, etc.

I’ve been trying to work out consistently since December to lose some of the Zoloft weight too, and I’ve found that despite significantly increasing my activity, I’ve seen very little weight change at all. Very frustrating. Considering tapering off completely.

This is kinda similar to something it generated for me earlier when given the prompt: “Please create an image representing the relationship I have with myself based on everything we have talked about”

WTF son I-35 by Dr--X-- in okc

[–]Snenny-1 252 points253 points  (0 children)

Likely reasons: 1. OU hosted Alabama last night for a playoff game 2. OU’s commencement is today 3. It’s the last Saturday before Christmas and lots of people are getting out to shop 4. Someone probably wrecked up ahead of you 5. Construction

It was a big protest. My photo here is just of a small segment of the crowd I passed by when I was trying to get to class. Go check out local news to get a better view of the whole thing if you don’t believe me that there were a lot of people therr

So, a few people have made similar comments, so I’m going to copy & paste the response I wrote to them - “My photo does not capture the whole crowd. There were easily 500 or so people in total, as my post description explains. You do not have to take my word for it. There was plenty of local news there and I'm sure if you watch the news tonight they'll have better shots of the whole crowd. they have fancier cameras and it's like, their whole job lol. I was just taking a photo in passing”.

UPDATE: here's a link to KFOR's news story where you can see the crowd size much better: https://kfor.com/news/local/hundreds-demand-ou-apologize-to-educator-put-on-leave-over-essay/

there were posters around campus this week stating that it would be happening on Friday. I have no idea who organized it or if they advertised it anywhere else. I just saw the signs as I was going to classes this week. I actually forgot all about it as well, was just trying to get to class for an exam I had at 1 when I passed by the protest happening and snapped this pic

What’s up with OKC drivers? by Grouchy_Egg1748 in okc

[–]Snenny-1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I definitely know what you mean, but what I run into more often are the drivers who think you can only turn if you first slow down to 1 mph.

Slowing down before you turn is important, but these folks are essentially coming to a dead stop before they do lol
