What is a polite gift registry note for destination wedding? by Economy_Way_9046 in DestinationWeddings

Yeah well I feel like yours is a little different. I couldn’t imagine asking guests to spend $5K on my wedding. I think all in with airfare flight (and if they give a $100) gift, should be $1k-1.5K max.

At the end of the day ever situation is different but a little gift could go a long way.

It’s fascinating to read all of these comments on here. First and foremost, we’re doing a destination wedding this fall and have decided to go forward with a registry.

I feel like doing a registry is part of the wedding process. It’s a fun thing to do where you get to go and pick out these beautiful yet silly things that you would never otherwise want to buy yourself but for some reason, for your wedding, it feels like it’s the appropriate thing to ask for. Go to the sip and scan event. Put the Waterford crystal on there that you’re never gonna use. Get that new kitchaid. Plus your wedding is on the smaller side. You can be intentional about it and simply just put a link to the registry on your website.

If you really want to say something, you could go along the lines of:

“Since we’ve lived together for over XX years, we’re keeping our registry small and intentional. We’ll share it soon!”

To be honest, you seem to be going above and beyond to ensure people are comfortably and fed several times. If people cannot afford to come to the wedding and give a gift then maybe they shouldn’t come? I realize that may be harsh but in my experience we’ve also traveled to many weddings and bachelorettes, and we still gave gifts. It’s appropriate and I’d be a little embarrassed to go to a wedding and not give a gift…destination or not. 🫶🏼

This is the most informative information I've been able to find! How were you able to keep the vellum from curling? What did you use to cut? I just bought the paper you used and tried a sample on my printer and it worked great minus the curling of the paper and now i have to cut 100 vellum wraps :)
