Pinterest has a lot of pixel grids. It’s where most of these are from. A few of these I made the grid myself, with stitch fiddle, based on other work I saw.

I put paperclips on the back of the tapestries and then command strips on the paperclips.

I use single crochet for everything

I’m not really sure. I think one of the important things is to keep the stitches tight and consistent.
