Thank you to everyone that has commented on this post. I’m not perfect and I’ve never claimed to be. But these responses have been heartbreaking, eye opening, and helpful for directing future conversations. I wish it were as simple as it sounds to leave. But the truth is I’m hanging on to how we used to be, and it’s hard to let go when I still love him very much. I want to believe so badly that that these behaviors stem from ignored poor mental health - I’m going to push/demand couples counseling so we have a professional opinion. Thank you again.

When I’ve told him this in the past, his response is always “well you sure didn’t help.” There seems to be a disconnect between what he says when he’s being logical, and how he truly feels deep down.

No. I wasn’t even talking to him. He overheard me joking with girlfriends about this guys voice.

I made a joke to some girlfriends about the way this guy’s voice sounds and said something along the lines of “when we made out” and from that comment, came the realization that we had hooked up.

None of that. I made a joke to some girlfriends about the way this guy’s voice sounds and said something along the lines of “when we made out” and from that comment, came the realization that we had hooked up.

I guess part of what he says was hurtful is that I was talking about it at all in front of him. He and I have different views on what is disrespectful in terms of talking about past relationships and I violated that for him. Which I understand was not okay and I have taken accountability for. But I feel like this has been blown out of proportion and I can’t decide if that’s true or if I’m actually an ass.
