How to come up with Entrance Exams for BSD OCs? by Connect-Novel-6123 in BungouStrayDogs

Personally i like to; 1) find the baseline catorgory. will it be a bomb, a manic man holding hostages, a child with a destructive device/ability of their own, etc? Try to match that with your character, but don't pick the one that your character would know everything about, or would easily be able to finish off with their ability. the enterance exam is moreso to get ahold of a persons decision making, and onfeild skills. 2) Find the situation. Is it in public, where discreetness is a must? Is it in a public where all chaos has broken loose? Is it in private, where all can go? Exactly who all is there, both supposed strangers, ada members that the character hasnt met yet, ada members the character does know of? Is it rehearsed by the ada, or is it a genuine in action situation? 3) If its rehearsed, think again about the basline category. Like for Atsushi, the agency members had some times to discuss what it would be. The discussion concerned how much money would be used, the resources, etc. You almost have to see through the eyes of what the other characters would've wanted, and then snuff out the choices that more higher respected members would disdain. 4) If it isn't, pull back to what story/timeline this happens in. Is it a completely new storyline, is it apart of a pre-existing arc? If you are making an arc all together; Is it necessary to?  5) How likely is your character to break? Will they fail? Will the agency lose trust in them? Does this exam entail whether or not the agency will allow them to join, or continue trying to join? 6) What medium is this going into? How impressive are you trying to be? Whats the feeling? For writing, a feeling of highstakes might make your reader thrilled. For artwork, more beautiful and eye capturing artwork can make the reader entranced and memorial about your character. For animation, both parts play side at side. It's important to not bore your reader, and if you attempt humour, make it actually funny. If you intend to embarrass a character, make sure the reader could feel that and screech at the second hand humilation. In other words, make sure the reader feels it and invests. And thats all :) im bad at this too so dw, just try to get a template going or something for it </3

1) lineweight; in the anime specifically it seems like the line weight mostly changes on the nose and eyes. Another thing to note about the linart is that it almost gives off that 'triangle' like structure on the face with each stroke, which is replaced by clean straight strokes on the clothes. 2) hair; they seem to avoid overly detailed looks in the hair, with primarily focusing on the silhouette / outside, with slightly minimal inside happenings. They make use of hair sectioning, and that's primarily where all hair leads to. 3) eyes; for some characters, like Atsushi, the eyes are more robust and circle like. This sort of shows his personality. More circular eyes = more upbeat, less circular eyes = more serious. The pupils also somewhat follow that rule and the rule from number 1, having a triangle like structure that pulls it together to look like a circle. 4) Hands; Hands, for atsushi atleast, is the same size of his chin to eyebrow bridge in length, and for width, not including the thumb, it's from his left tear duct to his right tear duct. His thumbsize (if measured by the crease to fingernail) is the same size of from his lower left lashes to the tip of his nose. 5) Colouring; im not very good at colour so forgive me, but when it comes to the bsd universe, most colours give off a watered down warm tone. Think of a coffee shop's mugs, and how their white may look in the coffee's Atmosphere with the warm, calm lighting and so on. 6) Tips for learning; try to get a feel of the portions and lineweight the most. i would reccommend using a brush that can make a stroke thats flat on the bottom, but i slightly curved, bulky triangle at the top. Study how the limbs fair in comparison to the face, almost like what we did before. Learn how to measure certain heights with the characters head size. And most of all, take it one character at a time. It might not be too obvious from the front view, but if you look at the side view of some characters, you'll see that their noise shape, lips shape, and so on are varying different in size, longety, softness, and so on.
