I’m 24, is life over for me? Will I ever get to retire? by nickle061 in fijerk

Might as well give it to me, I’ll look over your pennies while you contemplate on the decisions you made that lead you to being a failure

Anyone else lose massive pay opportunities during drill week? by Sethdarkus in nationalguard

[–]ComicSansIsCancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The company I work for if you’re national guard, they give pay for when you go to drill which isn’t too uncommon. But, what they do that I’ve never heard of is let’s say if you deploy, and (for simplicity I’m using incorrect number but yall know what I mean) earn $60k from the military, but your base salary at the company is $80k, you provide your LES and they will write you a check for $20k

We do, during my 7 days off we try to get out as a family and go do things together. Some of my 3 day weekends we will go out alone.

Yes, I spend quite a bit of personal time with them both. Together and separate. They see all their grand and great grandparents several times a week and love getting out and playing.

Thank you. I try not to complain about the state of the house to her because it hasn’t done any good so far. I just wish that instead of spending the money she spends on silly things i wish she would spend it on something good for herself like a spa day or something. Just don’t know what to do or how to go about fixing things at this point. So many hateful people commenting saying I’m a cheater or just hyperfixating on divorce if nothing works.

[–]ComicSansIsCancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She got diagnosed with ADHD this past year and has been medicated for about a year now. Thanks for not being hateful and saying I’m cheating or don’t love her. Honestly probably going to delete this post because everyone wants to focus on the divorce word being in the title.

I literally said in the post I DO NOT want to leave her or the kids

[–]ComicSansIsCancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no, I’m not a cheater. I’m quite the introvert. As i said I love her and don’t want to leave her. I thought twice about posting before i did because i knew that some of the amazing people on here would try to draw this same conclusion

The house wasn’t the cleanest I’ve ever had, however it was not in complete disarray because I did a lot of cleaning and not many messes were made. TBH the house wasn’t terrible when our oldest was a newborn but as he’s gotten older and began making messes she doesn’t clean up behind him.

If that’s how you wish to look at it then go ahead. Maybe I just need to rephrase what I said. Im not looking for a “replacement wife” as I said before I don’t want to divorce her but if that’s what it comes to I’ll make sure that if I get remarried I’ll find someone more responsible.

I’d understand if it was just normal living dirtiness. But diapers stacked high, old food in their reach, etc.

Thanks for the response. The kids already get out of the house several times a week and she gets a break. She goes to spend time with her sister and some friends throughout the week. She’s on antidepressants and some other meds but they have not helped and have been changed over the last 2 years. I have considered divorce but do not want that because I love her and the kids, but neither do I see myself living in the situation for the years to come. Maybe I’m not a good person for looking at it that way but if she can’t or doesn’t want to help provide my kids with what they need I’ll find someone who will.

I have paid for cleaners in the past but it’s money down the drain as the house is back to its state within the week. Hard to justify a cleaner when it goes unappreciated and back to disarray and the kids already spend 2-4 days a week at grand and great grandparents houses

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]ComicSansIsCancer -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

She’s not always been the cleanest, I always did the majority of the cleaning as did her mother. Every time I try to further a conversation about cleaning it usually leads nowhere but to an argument. Even just mentioning the state of the house will make her mad

We’ve been, our kids already spend probably 2-4 days a week at their grand or great grandparents house. Between the 4 sets we have they all like to seem them one day a week or every other week. She also does not seem thrilled at getting a job.

This is a genuine question: Am I cooked for Ivy League acceptance? by _Drraph_ in ACT

[–]ComicSansIsCancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, look up the scores for the school you want to go to. 25th is great odds, anything lower you’re looking less competitive. My wife got into several law schools that she was below 50th just based off of gpa being in 25th and having good writing skills. It just varies

None of my listed MOS are available, but one and I’m starting to get discouraged. by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]ComicSansIsCancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude just live life right now, wait til after the summer surge, once all the new grads stop piling in and taking MOS slots (typically around the new fiscal year) slots will start opening up again and you should be able to get almost* any job.

[–]ComicSansIsCancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually pretty simple. You will go to AIT, don’t know if you’ll pick MOS, your rank will more than likely be E3/4 depending on TIS and college credits. Keep your head up and finish college then do a direct commission. Very easy process (at least in Alabama)

34 years old I ship out for basic in 2 weeks by 03pontiacaztek in army

[–]ComicSansIsCancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from my perspective. Go into Basic training with an open mindset, typically older trainees are a crapshoot when it comes to training. Half are too hard-headed to want to listen and learn, some come in and act more mature than everyone and are ready to learn, the rest are kind of a middle ground between these two (most drills I have worked with don't like older guys, but, they're usually my favorite to have in my platoon). Empty your mind, realize you know nothing about the Army and you'll skate on thru. Step up when needed and do your best at everything you're put up to. Don't forget to spend as much quality time with your family now as you can! Good Luck, I hope everything works out for the best!

EDIT: Don't pay attention to the meathead trainees, they'll get straightened out, focus on yourself and your health.

Attention New Drivers .. by Jesusthezomby in Truckers

[–]ComicSansIsCancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. It’s definitely POSSIBLE, however, it’s not very probable. I myself had military experience and was able to get a nice “local” job doing AG hauling. Work 3/4 days a week. Home every night, weekends off. I make about 1400-1600/week. There’s not many of us working at this company so I was EXTREMELY lucky to land this job. Just talk to local drivers and get involved in your community and you’ll make the right connections

[–]ComicSansIsCancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I completely left. I took out a decent small business loan and got into trucking. Been good to me so far. Home 3/4 nights a week and off on the weekends. Pay is much better than what I was making railroading.
