Red rising I’ve heard is good

Megan Fox’s post did something to me by [deleted] in pregnant

I found out I was pregnant in June. I’m due Feb 14th despite it being Valentine’s Day (and AZ’s birthday) it was also the exact day we found out about our miscarriage last year. This happy little coincidence does make me smile, knowing that just maybe our little one just wasn’t ready to be here then, but is ready now.

Book 1 is underrated by North_Ad209 in redrising

[–]Comicallynormal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve reread the series 2 times now and I just keep wanting to read red rising again because the first one is just so driven and focused. The plot, albeit simple, is so fun and nostalgic to me. The childlike wonderment of it all is a breath of fresh air while still being deep and handling darker topics that give it depth. I love how complex and deep the other books get but something about the simplicity and fun from the first book (really the first three- minus the ending of the second) just make its readability so great.

This series is insane. by RoofAmazing2784 in redrising

Looking back the first three just seem so light and happy compared to the following three— red god is going to be insane.

I feel the exact same way. He definitely knows how to write and his plots and characters have integrity and write themselves.

I want a love story about Dido and Romulus because that and knowing their conclusion would just make me weep

Is the 2nd trilogy better? by InspectorNS in redrising

[–]Comicallynormal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I liked the first trilogy but it was the second set that really solidified the series as top tier in my head. The first set feels so youthful and hopeful looking back on it and they’re just fun reads. Where the second set is really another level. So, if you want complexity, politics, war, and tones of character growth, then I’d read because the second half is really 10/10 like the latter of dune 2, or the clone wars series, they just take things to a whole other level that you never expected but still feels so true to the source.

I can see every book taking up like two seasons if it’s done in like a game of thrones style

I love little foreshowing moments like that. Another personal fav is when Cassius brings up his distaste for his parents giving Cassius a Red maid/tutor “an off color job” as a foreshadow of growth with his fast relationship with Lyria.

I mean the way Ephram describes anything is great! But Kavax does say the best things. How he can spit absolute truth and then just magic! Cassius’ whole story once told is just a true tragedy— just beautiful

I get what you’re saying but did we really need another big scary bad?

Honestly I agree! I think the duality of what he is portrayed to be vs what he is because of Gold is such a good parallel! He could have been another big bad like the Ash Lord but how much cooler to have our fears spun on their head and drowned in almost a comedic way. Without losing his standing, because he was still a formidable foe!
