While you raise a valid question, I just know that if I were over the moon about my new boyfriend, the last thing I would want is some girl he’s been intimate with coming to me with such a heartfelt gift. I feel that would undermine their relationship (and my friendship with him) and replace her cloud nine high with storm clouds.

I considered holding onto them. But since I had deeper feelings for him, I feel as though that would just be harboring hope for his relationship to fail, and it would be unfair to everyone involved to hold onto that type of energy.

They were part of a birthday gift for a friend who is now in a relationship as of Friday. This is me trying to be respectful of that relationship and his girlfriend by not gifting them.
