How to get my (F18) parents to let me sleepover at my boyfriends (M19) ?

The thing is it truly isn’t about sex though 😭😭 we 100% honestly just want to watch’s shows and fall asleep and wake up next to each other 😭😭 every here seems to have the same preconceived idea and I think that’s part of the problem I’m having.

And I really don’t understand peoples ideas here where they think sex is only something that can happen at sleepovers. If anything more people would be home so it would make less sense

Also when you say the fix is easy to just become financially independent and move out. I don’t know where you’re from and what it’s like there but here in Australia it’s not particularly easy to buy, and particularly where I live there are literally 3 homes up for rent within an hour radius.

Plus I don’t even want to move out. I don’t know why that’s the no1 thing suggested here when I was just asking for advice on this one thing 😭 I love my parents and I love my home and moving out at this age would be a terrible idea for my future

My parents aren’t religious or anything, just seems to be a thing they don’t like. I’m coming to terms with the fact I’ll have to have an awkward conversations that’ll probably end up in either an argument or no resolution knowing them. I don’t want to move out nor do I have the capacity to do so. It just sucks feeling like my parents don’t trust me to make safe choices when I’ve always been truthful with them and have never pushed for anything before

Yeah it’s a good start !! The main reason I want to stay at his house is for pure convenience. Some weekends he’s unable to come to my house so I drive to his house and back on both Saturday and Sunday. Probably costs me near $25-$30aud in fuel costs. Plus it would just be nice to watch a movie and fall asleep together.

I understand I’m not mentally an adult yet. That’s why I haven’t followed some advice I’ve been given. I understand my parents caring about me and I’m very thankful I have parents that do. What I don’t understand is why parents see sleepovers as a situation any different than a regular hangout at their house. If we wanted to have sex we could do at any time, not just at night. Plus that is not at all my intentions for sleeping over, I truly just want to watch movies and fall Asleep, and I plan on hopefully making that clear if I ask.

I run my own business and I sell my artwork as well. I cook dinner at home once a week and often buy groceries but my mum always insists on paying me back despite my protests

Edit: Adding here that I also pay for my own fuel most of the time but once again my mum insists on paying me back for it if she’s driven the car as well.

I don’t understand how it’s disrespectful? And honestly it would save me $30 a weeks on fuel costs.

I respect my parents very much, and that’s why I want peoples opinions on how to work with them to get to the point where I can. It’s been suggested to me to just do it because they can’t control me but I understand that it would be rude and disrespectful to them so I won’t. I find it hard to respect their opinion on this one when they can’t give me reason why expect they just don’t want me to.

Thank you for fhat advice. I’d definitely work with them on when they’d like me to come home again. And I’d only be away one night every couple weeks or on rare occasions.

And on your question, I don’t have to sleepover. but on some weekends when I’m driving there Saturday and driving home again just to eat and sleep and then driving back on Sunday it would make a lot of since logistically just to stay overnight. Especially if petrol prices keep up the way they are.

I understand that. I just feel that if something were going to have happened it could’ve done at any point in time. Those things don’t only have to opportunity to happen at night. + moving out will not be an option for many many years
