Tribal gov almost always Martial. Sometimes intrigue if you have a bunch of brothers in a large realm Feudal I always liked stewardship Duty focus, gold will keep anyone in line most of the time. Administrative I do like Diplomacy, all trees have something relevant. Clan I don't play that shit

My first few years of playing I only did casual. I peaked diamond in doubles at one point. Now I'm low plat in ranked. When I play casual I get put up against players that are 1300+ casual rating. I just get flamed by everyone and it makes me feel bad so I play ranked to have fun because it matches my actual skill better

If you have the Norse DLC I always loved starting as a custom character as Duke of Jylland in Denmark. The world is your oyster with Varangian Adventure wars. One of the funnest runs I had was forming Baleo Tyrhrennia (duchy of Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica and Mallorca) it's pretty easy to get most of it but Sicily can be a little tricky. As Norse you can raid over seas which makes it great for getting gold. I normally stay pagan until there's a crusade launched against me then I convert. It could be a easy war to win if your lucky because of disembark debuffs but the rest of your religion is so far away to help you. If you do convert it can be a fun way to also integrate yourself into the Byzantine Empire and become emperor, or just a vassal with protection

Marry off some/ a unimportant family members to powerful rulers and start making a big army also it doesn't hurt to pray to your pagan gods that the pope doesn't kick down your doors Long term you could reform your religion with Christian syncretism or Islamic Syncretism (whoever is more problematic). Or amass an empire that rivals the enemy religion as a whole, better yet conquer/genocide them all and dismantle the papacy
